DETROIT -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its regional and national rankings for singles and doubles on Wednesday, November 12, with multiple Wayne State University men's and women's tennis student-athletes appearing.
The first team ranking is set to be released on Wednesday, January 14.
On the men's side, the pairing of
Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany) and
Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia / The McDonald College [Mississippi College]) are the No. 2-ranked duo in the Midwest Region and rank 15th nationally after compiling an 11-6 ledger in doubles action and earning a spot at the ITA Cup after finishing as the runner-up during the ITA Midwest Regional Championship. In singles, sophomore
George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom) is the No. 8-ranked student-athlete in the region, while Klaus appears 17th in the Midwest.
Senior
Malak Arafat (Alexandria, Egypt) is the lone member of the WSU women's squad to earn a singles ranking, appearing sixth in the region and as the No. 50-ranked individual nationally. The duo of Arafat and freshman
Selin Kayakent (Bursa, Turkey) is viewed as the No. 10-ranked pairing in the Midwest after going 3-2 when competing together in the fall.
UP NEXT
The men's team will return to the court on Saturday, January 17, at Western Michigan while the women's team will host Huntington on Friday, January 23. Both matches will be exhibitions.
