MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The 11th-ranked Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team was at No. 8 Northern Michigan on Friday and Saturday for its first dual meet of the 2025-26 season. Friday's action, which was a skins meet for both squads, carried no team scores before the Warriors took care of the Wildcats on Saturday, 163-137.
"The trip to NMU was definitely a great learning experience for our Warriors," said head coach
Sean Peters. "The men, while we still have a larger new group, they definitely rose to the challenge that the Wildcats gave us, and it was indeed, a challenge. I'm very proud, but I also feel there are little things we need to fix for our guys to take that next step. Big shout out to both women and men's diving for their impact and performances. It is still early, so stay tuned."
For the skins meet on Friday, it started with a 100 IM and the top four from each team went into a knockout 50 that was randomly drawn out of a hat. The number of competitors went from eight to six to four to two to one and a different stoke was picked for each round including 50 free, 50 breast, 50 back and 50 fly.
