Tripp Selected To the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team

DETROIT -- Wayne State University women's basketball senior Shea Tripp has been selected as one of the 10 female honorees for the inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team, which recognized 20 standout student-athletes across collegiate winter sports for their exceptional achievements in community service, athletics and academics.  This marks the first-ever expansion of the Good Works Team to include student-athletes from all collegiate sports and divisions.

On the court, Tripp was voted to the All-GLIAC First Team for a second consecutive season earlier this month as well as being named to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team earlier today.  She currently ranks fourth in school history with 1,305 points, and ranks in the top 10 in program history in steals (4th / 235 - most career steals by a  WSU player since 1986), free throws made (6th / 289), rebounds (7th / 686), assists (7th / 335), field goals made (T-7th / 486), games played (T-8th / 109), assists per game (9th / 3.1), and games started (T-9th / 89).

Her other on the court accolades include Second Team All-GLIAC in 2023, 66 games scoring in double figures, including 15 games with at least 20 points, and 18 career double-doubles.

In the classroom, the Health and Physical Education Teaching major has earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) recognition all seven semesters, including six terms with a 4.0.  She will be named to the Da ADA Academic Achievement Award for the third consecutive year this summer, the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for a third straight season this spring, and the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District squad for a third consecutive year next month.

But in the community is where Tripp really shines as she was named one of three females nationally to be a finalist for the John Wooden Citizenship Cup which will be announced at the end of the April in Atlanta.  The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup is a remarkable honor that celebrates athletes who;
  • Excel in their sports
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership
  • Contribute meaningfully to their community
  • Embody the highest standards of personal character

Tripp has donated nearly 500 hours in the community during her collegiate career including activities such as Cards for Hospitalized Kids (three years), working with Team Impact (three years), 2024 meal pack for 9/11, Bay Shore Basketball, Christmas boxes as part of Operation Christmas Child, Boxes of Love as part of Athletes in Action, QPR Mental Health Training, Michigan Premier basketball, and toy boxes for Children's Hospital.
