Women's Basketball Adds Three Transfers For 2026-27

Fears, McLaughlin and McQueen to join WSU this fall.

DETROIT -- Wayne State University women's basketball head coach Carrie Lohr, who enters her 16th season guiding the Warriors this fall, has announced the addition of three transfers for the 2026-27 season.  Coming to WSU are forward Kylee Fears (Hamilton, Ohio / Talawanda [Merrimack]), guard Halen McLaughlin (Sanford, Mich. / Sanford Meridian [Lake Superior]) and guard/forward Rayven McQueen (Grand Blanc, Mich. [Detroit Mercy]).

Kylee Fears, 6-0, F, R-Jr., Hamilton, Ohio / Talawanda (Merrimack)
2025-26:  Played in six games for Merrimack totaling 27 minutes ...tallied four points on 2-of-7 from the floor ... grabbed four rebounds (2-2), while dishing out two assists and recording one steal (at Rhode Island) ... scored all four points and grabbed a season-best three rebounds (2-1) in a season-high 10 minutes vs. UMass-Boston.

2024-25:  Appeared in 25 games for Merrimack ... totaled 31 points and 63 rebounds (18-45) in 208 minutes ... grabbed a season-best seven boards vs. Fairfield ... scored a season-high five points against Iona ... played a season-best 20 minutes vs. Manhattan ... shot 39 percent (13-of-33) from the floor, while recording nine assists, five steals and three blocks ... presented a project on "Problematic Screen Exposure Negatively Relates to Effortful Control in Preschoolers" in Chicago at the ISDP (International Society for Developmental Psychobiology).

2023-24:  Redshirted as a true freshman at Merrimack College, a Division 1 school in North Andover, Mass.

High School:  A 2023 graduate of Talawanda High School ... was a four-year letterwinner for coach Mary Jo Huismann ... helped the Braves to two Southwest Ohio Conference titles ... THS went a combined 42-4 her last two seasons ... totaled 1,637 career points, along with 1,240 rebounds and 73 double-doubles ... holds 15 school records including career point and rebounds ... selected to the 2023 All-Ohio Division 1 First Team by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association ... 2023 Greater Cincinnati Co-Player of the Year from Cincinnati Enquirer as well as District 15 Player of the Year ... posted a triple-double of 33 points, 24 rebounds and 11 assists in a 2023 victory ... was a three-year team captain in basketball ... received All-SWOC First Team accolades all four seasons ... played in the 2023 OHSBCA North-South All-Star game ... also competed in the discus for the THS track and field squad in 2023, as well as golf (earned Second Team All-SWOC recognition) ... was a four-time Academic all SWOC (Southwest Ohio Conference) ... played summer ball for the Cincinnati Angels.

2025-26:  Appeared in 20 games for Lake Superior State University ... averaged 2.4 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest, while playing over eight minutes per outing ... scored a season-best 16 points at Grand Valley State (12/4) on season-highs of six made field goals, including three triples in four attempts, while playing a season-best 16 minutes ... set season-highs in rebounds (4) and assists (3) at Ferris State (1/24) ... recorded two steals vs. Roosevelt (1/29) ... shot 30 percent (16-of-53) from the floor for the season, including 22 percent (6-of-27) from beyond the arc ... made 10-of-15 foul shots (67 percent), while grabbing 23 rebounds (10-13) ... notched 10 assists to nine turnovers with five steals.

2025-26:  Appeared in three games for the Detroit Mercy Titans ... received UDM Athletic Director Honor Roll accolades ... tallied five points, including first career triple vs. Green Bay (Jan. 10) ... grabbed five rebounds (1-4) and tallied two points at Robert Morris (Dec. 16), along with a steal ... saw limited playing time vs. Youngstown State (Jan. 29).

High School:  A 2025 graduate of Grand Blanc High School ... was a two-year letterwinner for coach Bob Taylor (2024 and 2025) and coach Mike McKay (2022 and 2023) ... received First Team All-Saginaw Valley Conference recognition ... helped the Bobcats to the 2024 state championship game ... scored 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and grabbed six rebounds (4-2) in the 54-45 MHSAA Division 1 state semifinal win over Belleville in 2024 ... aided in GBHS compiling a 72-27 record in her four years, including a SVC league title in 2024 ... served as a team captain as a senior.
