Mancini and Galfalvy Wrap Competition at NCAA Women's Fencing Championships

University Park, Pa. -- Wayne State University women's fencing student-athletes Reka Galfalvy (Budapest, Hungary / Vörösmarty Mihály) and Ludovica Mancini (Rome, Lazio, Italy / Liceo Linguistico Niccolò Machiavelli) concluded competition at the 2025 NCAA Women's Fencing Championships on Sunday.

With the combined performances from the men's and women's squads, the Warriors finished 17th out of 33 competing programs.  WSU totaled 30 bout victories across all four days of the event.

EPEE
Galfalvy represented WSU in the epee weapon and collected seven bout wins, notching a 7-16 overall ledger.  The sophomore earned six wins during the first day and one during the second day as she topped Karen Wang of Northwestern 5-4.  Galfalvy fell 5-4 in four of her bouts.

FOIL
Mancini, fencing in the foil weapon, entered the final day with a 3-12 bout record.  The junior added a 5-4 triumph over Brown's Jessie Chen on the second day.  Mancini fell 5-4 in four total bouts and finished with a 4-19 overall record.

With Galfalvy and Mancini both appearing for the Green and Gold, this marks the first time since the 2017 NCAA Championships that the WSU women's fencing team has had multiple student-athletes compete.

Penn State University played host to the 2025 NCAA Championships with competition being held in the Multi-Sport Facility.
