Ruyssen Tabbed as CSC Second Team Academic All-American

She became the fourth three-time Academic All-American in WSU history.

DETROIT -- Wayne State University women's tennis student-athlete Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France) has been named a Second Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA).  This marks the third time in her career she has garnered Academic All-American honors, making her the fourth three-time honoree in Wayne State history.

Ruyssen, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Management in May of 2024 with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.78, is currently pursuing an MBA and already has a crowded trophy case.  She has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Scholar-Athlete honors three times, has been named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team on three occasions, has twice been a recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, has twice received the GLIAC Commissioner's Award, and was voted Academic All-American of the Year by the CSC in 2024.

On the court, Ruyssen has been voted as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Year three times in her career (2021-22, 2023-24, and 2024-25) and is the first player in at least the last 25 years to do so.  She was named First Team All-GLIAC in each of her four seasons with Wayne State, helped the Green and Gold to three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, ranks third in program history with 95 doubles wins, and is tied-for-fourth all time with 84 singles victories.  Her career singles winning percentage of .750 ranks 19th in Wayne State women's tennis history and her 25 singles wins during the 2022-23 season is tied-for-eighth in a single season at WSU.

This year, Ruyssen was named the Midwest Senior Player of the Year by the ITA as the top senior or graduate student within the region.  She finished the season as the No. 10-ranked singles player in the Midwest, while the pairing of Ruyssen and Dea Gorgide (Tbilisi, Georgia) was tabbed as the fifth-ranked duo regionally and 31st nationally.

Competing in the No. 1 position in both singles and doubles, Ruyssen truly anchored WSU on the court in 2025, leading the squad to a perfect 8-0 ledger within the GLIAC, a runner-up finish in the GLIAC Tournament, and an appearance in the NCAA quarters.

WSU's Three-Time Academic All-American (4):  Elly Maleski, Women's Swimming; Ransome Allen, Men's Cross Country; Trevor Jones, Men's Swimming; and Anais Ruyssen, Women's Tennis.
