Men's Cross Country Claims 14th at Lucian Rosa Invite

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Wayne State University men's cross country team competed in the 24-team Lucian Rosa Invite, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, finishing 14th overall (340 points) in the Championship 8K. Members of the Green and Gold also raced in the Open 8K, nabbing third with 90 points.

The Colorado School of Mines prevailed in the Championship 8K, with 52 points, while Alabama-Huntsville claimed first in the Open 8K.

"It was an up-and-down day for our guys, with some bright spots and some really rough days. Glen (Davis) and Jared (Platt) mixed up with some of the best runners in the country and held their own, with Sean (Pettis) not far behind. After that we had some big gaps, solid efforts from Gabe (Trevino) and Andrew (Yax), but overall too much time passed from our top-3 finishing to the rest of the guys. Brady (Heron) and Adam (Hafeli) had solid runs in 80-degree heat in the Open race."

"We didn't accomplish the primary goal of beating top teams from other regions, but we did beat some good teams today. We need to go back to the grind and put some big workouts in over the next month, and show up in championship season with high confidence and great aerobic fitness. If we do that, we'll be a dangerous team down the road."
