BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's golf team wrapped up play at Ferris State's Bulldog Fall Classic on Sunday afternoon and moved up from seventh place to fifth in the process. The Warriors carded a two-day total of 625 (+49, 318-307), just three shots behind Gannon in fourth.
Individually,
Claudia Portillo (Madrid, Spain / IES Ortega y Gassett) was the Warriors top finisher for the third time in as many tournaments this season and secured the 11th top-25 placing out of 13 career events. Portillo ranked 16th on the final leaderboard thanks to a 36-hole mark of 154 (+10, 78-76).
"It was really good to see everybody in a more relaxed flow today during their rounds, said head coach
Larry Hamilton. "We just took it one hole at a time and shot one of our lowest rounds of the fall, which was great to see."
