BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Wayne State University women's tennis squad completed play at the Hidden Duals tournament, hosted by Bowling Green State University at the Keefe Tennis Courts.
WSU competed with Butler University, the University of Findlay, and Bowling Green State. The Warriors saw action against each of the three programs over the course of the two-day event, competing in both singles and doubles.
Malak Arafat (Alexandria, Egypt) found success for Wayne State in singles action, tallying a 2-1 ledger with wins over student-athletes from Butler (6-0, 5-7, 10-4) and Findlay (6-1, 6-4).
Martyna Szpakowska (Gdansk, Poland) also notched a 2-1 mark, besting opponents from BU (6-4, 6-3) and BGSU (6-4, 7-5). Arafat and Szpakowska had a strong showing in doubles as well, as the pairing went 3-0 on the weekend, topping a duo from Findlay 6-4, a pair of Bulldogs 6-3, and a team from Bowling Green 6-3.
Justine Beaulieu (Montreal, Que.) and
Rebecca Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. Heritage) also nabbed a doubles win over a BGSU pairing 6-2.
