DETROIT -- The No. 23-ranked Wayne State University women's tennis team (1-1 overall) will compete against Saginaw Valley State University (2-1 overall) at the Greater Midland Tennis Center on Thursday, February 26, at 1:00 PM, then will play host to Hillsdale College (5-2 overall) at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, in the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.
LAST TIME OUT
The Green and Gold fell 4-3 to No. 16-ranked Findlay on Saturday, February 14. The Warriors lost the doubles point, falling in 2-of-3 matches. The doubles matches proved to be the difference, as the squads split the singles matches with WSU winning in the No. 2, 3, and 4 sports, while UF captured the top position and the No. 5 and 6 slots.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ahead of the squad's match with Northwood (Feb. 24), SVSU is 2-1 with triumphs over Hope and Calvin.
2024-25 Honorable Mention All-GLIAC selection Nicoletta Diamantopoulos is back for her sophomore campaign, after posting an 11-8 singles record and a 13-7 doubles mark last season.
Emily Ackerman is in her first season with Saginaw Valley State. Prior to this year, Ackerman spent three seasons at the helm of Grace College, helping the squad to a 34-23 ledger in her time.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
Hillsdale is 5-2 this season, with wins over three GLIAC squads, defeating Michigan Tech, Saginaw Valley State, and Purdue Northwest.
A pair of All-G-MAC recipients return for the 2025-26 season, as Ane Dannhauser was selected to the First team for the last two years, and Briana Rees was voted to the second team last season.
Melanie Zampardo in also in her first season with the squad after serving as an assistant a year ago. As a player, Zampardo was selected to the All-G-MAC Second Team three times.
