Alicia Viaches Advances Past NCAA Pre-Qualifications

The sophomore will look for a National Championship on Thursday (three meters) and Saturday (one meter).

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- Sophomore diver Alicia Viaches (East Lansing, Mich. / Haslett) of the Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team will have the opportunity to compete for a National Championship.  The second-year Warrior advanced past the NCAA pre-qualifications on Tuesday for the chance to participate on Thursday (three meters) and Saturday (one meter).

However, freshman Ariana Heugh (Macomb, Mich. / Dakota) was not so fortunate.  Heugh was unable to make the cut for the rest of the week's action.

"Alicia put together two very strong meets to make her first NCAA meet, highlighted by an 12th-place finish on three meters out of 38 participants," said head diving coach Jason Trout.

Viaches
One meter: 18th/39 - 210.70
Three meters: 12th/38 - 231.25
