Men's Basketball Adds Four Transfers

WSU brings in Benard, Coleman, Krzesowiak and Speiser.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's basketball program led by head coach Bryan Smothers, who will be entering his fifth season this fall, has signed four transfers for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.  Joining the Warriors this fall will be guards Anthony Benard (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South [Mercer / Canisius]), Daquan Coleman (Flint, Mich. / Burton Bendle [SC4/Salem University]), Dominic Krzesowiak (Southgate, Mich. / Ann Arbor Huron [Lake Superior State]) and Nick Speiser (Warren, Mich. / De La Salle [Oakland C.C.]).

"As we continue to navigate the changes in collegiate athletics, specifically as it relates to recruiting, it's more important than ever that we continue to trust our high school evaluations, and the relationships we build early on." remarked Smothers.  "Once they enter the transfer portal or finish at a Junior College, we have a better understanding on who the players are and their potential fit in our program.

"Each transfer we added this cycle are guys we invested in while they were in high school, and we feel confident that each will make a big impact on and off the floor.  They each love the game and are known to be hard workers, as well as being great locker room fits that complement the guys we have returning."
