Men's Tennis To Open GLIAC Action at Davenport

DETROIT -- The No. 16-ranked Wayne State University men's tennis team will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., to face Davenport University to begin conference action on Saturday, March 28.

LAST TIME OUT
The Green and Gold wrapped its Spring Break trip with a 5-2 loss at Saint Leo University, who is ranked fourth in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. 

The Warriors collected wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, as Tom Wasner (Altenholz, Germany / Friedrichsort Community School) posted a 6-2, 6-4 win and Harry Forsyth (Wamberal, New South Wales, Australia / The McDonald College [Mississippi College]) notched a 2-6, 7-6, 10-4 triumph.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
DU is 8-10 this season, with a 1-1 record in the GLIAC, as the squad bested Roosevelt University 7-0 a week ago (3/20/2026).

Jan Stolin represents Davenport at the No. 1 singles position, posting a 10-6 ledger at that flight, including wins in the last three matches.  Sophomore Daniel Carver returns after being named First Team All-GLIAC and last year's GLIAC Freshman of the Year.

ITA RANKINGS UPDATE
The ITA released its newest team, singles and doubles rankings this past Wednesday, with multiple WSU student-athletes being ranked.  

WSU is the No. 16-ranked team in the country according to the most recent poll.  On the singles side, Luis Klaus (Brühl, Germany / Archbishop's St. Ursula gymnasium [TH Köln]) is ranked 42nd.  In doubles, Klaus and Forsyth are the No. 31-ranked pairing nationally, while George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College) and Thomas Mathys (Grimisuat, Switzerland / ECCG - Martigny) are ranked 46th.
