DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team will conclude its regular season with a pair of road contests at Grand Valley State University and Ferris State University on Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18 respectively.

LAST TIME OUT
The Warriors earned two impressive wins last weekend, besting both PNW and Roosevelt 6-1.

WSU fell in just one of its singles matches against the Pride, and surrendered the doubles point to the Lakers.

Grand Valley State enters Friday's contest ranked 19th nationally according to the Intercollegiate Athletic Association (ITA), and appearing on the NCAA's first tennis regional rankings of the season.  Thus far, GVSU is 13-1, including an 8-0 ledger at home, and a 5-0 record within the GLIAC.

Grand Valley student-athlete Natasha Sengphrachanh is the No. 7-ranked singles player nationally and was ranked as high as first after she won the ITA Cup during the fall.  She has compiled a 23-1 record this season, including a 13-1 mark at the top singles position.  In doubles, Sengphrachanh and Valentina Mozas are the No. 31-ranked duo nationally with an 11-2 mark.

Samantha Barr is in her seventh season at the helm for the Lakers, leading the squad to the NCAA Tournament each of the last four years, while being named last season's ITA Women's Tennis Midwest Coach of the Year.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Ferris State is 11-6 this season, with a 5-1 record in GLIAC matches.  The squad's lone falter came as a 7-0 loss at GVSU.  The Bulldogs rank 43rd in the country by the ITA and appeared on the NCAA's first regional ranking.

Freshman Madeline Peisley occupies the top singles position for FSU, posting a 19-5 record this season with a 14-4 ledger in the No. 1 position.  On the Doubles side, Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer and Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer have competed together at the No. 1 slot, with a 6-5 record.

Mark Doren has been at the helm for the Bulldogs since the 2019-20 campaign, earning GLIAC Coach of the Year honors twice (2021, 2024) and guiding FSU to the NCAA Midwest Regional a year ago.
