AUGUSTA, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's golf team concluded 36 holes of action on Saturday afternoon as part of day one of the 2026 GLIAC Championships and the Stroke Play Championship portion of the event. The Warriors will enter Sunday's action in fourth place among the eight-team field with a combined score of 625 (+49, 319-306).
Individually, not only was WSU paced by freshman
Sonia Bayahya (Casablanca, Morocco / Lycée Français International Louis-Massignon), but so was the entire individual field. Of the 39 players that completed both rounds, Bayahya was atop them all thanks to a two-over 146 (74-72).
"We had some outstanding play today in cold and rainy conditions," said head coach
Larry Hamilton. "I'm very proud of how these girls stay positive and fight through the conditions with good attitudes. We are looking forward to another opportunity tomorrow and I know these four will bring their best."
