Women's Golf Wraps Up GLIAC Championships in Tie-For-Fourth Place

Wayne State carded a 310 during Sunday's third round for a 54-hole total of 935.

AUGUSTA, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's golf team tied-for-fourth place among eight squads following two days and 54 holes of play at the 2026 GLIAC Stroke Play Championship on Sunday at Stonehedge North Golf Course.  The top two, Grand Valley State (+31) and Ferris State (+35), proceeded to face off for the Medal Match Play Championship later in the afternoon.

Next up on the schedule will be the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday April 26.  Wayne State was ranked 14th in the East Region for the most recent regional rankings released on Friday, April 10.

Four, 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the participants in the championships finals. Eighteen (18) teams in the east, central, south and west regions; along with six individuals, not on those teams, will compete at regionals. The low five (5) teams in the east and west regionals and the low four (4) teams in the central and south regional; along with the low two (2) individuals, not on those teams, will advance to the finals. Tiebreakers and playoffs will be used to determine team and individual champions and advancement to the finals. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition and all national championships policies will apply.

At the finals, all 18 teams and 8 individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of stroke play, an individual champion will be declared along with finishers 2-10 based on cumulative total score and any applicable tiebreakers. The top eight teams after 54 holes of play will be placed into a bracket and seeded based on 54-hole scores. The pairings for the quarterfinals will be Seed No. 1 versus Seed No. 8, Seed No. 2 versus Seed No. 7, Seed No. 3 versus Seed No. 6 and Seed No. 4 versus Seed No. 5, competing in medal play aka medal match play (stroke play over 18 holes and low score wins).
