DETROIT -- For the second straight season, Wayne State University graduate student Elly Belmore (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview) of the women's swimming and diving team was honored with College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American distinction.  Tuesday afternoon, she was named to the Academic All-America Second Team just like in 2025.

Belmore, who earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science in May of 2025, is currently enrolled in the Nursing program for a second degree.  She's been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) all seven semesters, including a perfect 4.0 term GPA each of the last five semesters.  She is a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American (2x First Team, 1x Second Team), and will earn her third consecutive GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition as well as a third D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award this summer.

In the pool, Belmore is a three-time All-American, all three of which were of the Second Team/Honorable Mention variety.  She's also a 13-time All-GLIAC honoree, including seven performances on the Third Team, five on the Second Team and one on the First Team in 2025-26 for winning the 200 IM.

Belmore's selection marks the fourth consecutive year at least one member of the WSU women's swimming and diving program has been honored with CSC Academic All-America honors.  Prior to COVID, swimming and diving was part of the at-large program and the Warrior women's swimming and diving program had at least one selection for nine straight seasons (2010-2018).

Her recognition marks the 104th in the history of the Academic All-American program for a Wayne State student-athlete and the 79th since 2002.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division II Academic All-America® program.
