DETROIT -- Four members of the 2025-26 Wayne State University men's swimming and diving program garnered Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) organization as announced this afternoon.
Recognized for their work both in the classroom and in the pool were junior
Khalil Ben Ajmia (Tunis, Tunisia / Lycée Pierre De Coubertin), sophomore
Olin Charnstrom (Oxford, Mich.), junior
John Martin (Brownstown, Mich. / Woodhaven), and sophomore
William Debroux (Oro-Medonte, Ont. / ÉSC Nouvelle-Alliance).
Ben Ajmia - 3.70 GPA - Marketing
After swimming in five of the team's eight regular season swim meets, Ben Ajmia garnered a pair of All-GLIAC honors, the sixth and seventh such performances of his career. Those included winning the 500 free for the second time with a mark of 4:23.43 and second place in the 1000 free with a time of 9:10.82. The junior was then selected to the NCAA Championships for the third instance in as many seasons where he added three All-American swims to his resume, giving him eight total, each of which were on the Second Team this time around. That trio of efforts included 14th in the 1000 free (9:07.83), 14th as part of the 200 free relay (1:21.54) and 15th while swimming in the 200 medley relay (1:29.09). Academically, the 2023-24 GLIAC Swimmer and Freshman of the Year's list of accolades now includes CSC Academic All-District (x2), CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American (First Team in 2023-24, Second Team in 2024-25), GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team (x2), and the 2024-25 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.
Charnstrom - 3.92 GPA - Nursing
Charnstrom competed in all eight of the team's regular season swim meets before two All-GLIAC honors and four All-American performances. Starting at the conference level, the sophomore was named to the Second Team for both the 100 back (47.37) and the 200 free (1:36.99). Nationally, the Oxford, Mich. native was a First Team All-American in the 100 back (eighth - 47.27), Second Team in the 200 free relay (14th - 1:21.54), Second Team in the 200 medley relay (15th - 1:29.09), and Second Team in the 400 medley relay (15th - 3:15.88). Through just two seasons of collegiate competition, Charnstrom is already an eight-time All-American and five-time All-GLIAC recipient. Academically, he received CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American First Team honors in 2024-25 and GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition this past campaign.
Martin - 3.65 GPA - Mechanical Engineering
Martin dove in all seven of the team's diving meets before placing fifth (439.30) in the one-meter dive at the GLIAC Championships and eighth (443.60) in the three-meter event. Then, Martin also competed in the NCAA Championships for the third time in as many seasons where he was 17th for both one meter (385.00) and three meters (407.05). Now a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, Martin is also a two-time member of the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team, a recipient of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award (2024-25) and has twice received CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American First Team recognition (2023-24, 2024-25).
Debroux - 3.96 GPA - Finance
Like Charnstrom, Debroux swam in all eight of the team's regular season swim meets before winning twice at the GLIAC Championships. There, the second-year Warrior stood atop the podium for both the 1000 free (9:10.20) and the 1650 free (15:18.27). Once he got to the national stage for the NCAA Championships, he was awarded Second Team All-American honors for the 1650 free after touching the wall in 12th with a time of 15:26.51. With two seasons of eligibility remaining, the Ontario native is a two-time All-American and six-time All-GLIAC performer. In the classroom, he's accounted for CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American First Team honors in 2024-25 and GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition in 2025-26.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the "CSC Release" link listed above.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 28, 2026 (women) and April 29, 2026 (men).
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
