DETROIT -- Four members of the 2025-26 Wayne State University women's swimming and diving program garnered Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) organization as announced earlier this afternoon.

Recognized for their work both in the classroom and in the pool were graduate Elly Belmore (St. Clair Shores, Mich. / Lakeview), senior Diana Muccioli (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North), sophomore Alicia Viaches (East Lansing, Mich. / Haslett), and sophomore Emma Crispo (Bergamo, Italy / Liceo Scientifico Statale Lorenzo Mascheroni).

Belmore - 3.94 GPA - Exercise & Sport Science and Nursing
Belmore, who earned her bachelor's degree in Exercise & Sport Science in May of 2025 and is completing her master's degree in Nursing, finished her fourth season as a member of the WSU women's swimming and diving program.  The graduate student competed in all eight of the squad's regular-season meets in 2025-26 and was once again selected for competition at the NCAA Championships, which was the fourth time in her collegiate career.  Belmore also added to her already decorated swimming career by collecting four total All-GLIAC honors, including her first ever victory at the conference championships in the 200 IM (2:03.16, First Team All-GLIAC).  She is a three-time All-American (all three Second Team/Honorable Mention), while obtaining numerous academic distinctions such as CSCAA Scholar All-American (First Team, 2022-23), CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American (Second Team, 2024-25 and First Team, 2023-24), and D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award winner (2023-24 and 2024-25).

Muccioli - 3.88 GPA - Design
Muccioli wrapped up her fourth campaign with the program by seeing action in all eight of the team's swim meets.  She became an All-GLIAC winner (Second Team) for the first time in her career by placing second in the 1650 free (17:11.76) at the 2026 GLIAC Championships.  Other finishes for the senior at the conference championships included a fourth-place result twice in the 1000 free (10:16.90) and as part of the 800 free relay (7:37.17), while touching the wall seventh in the 500 free (5:02.21).  Her efforts granted her a spot in the 2026 NCAA Championships for the first time in her collegiate career, where she placed 17th in the 1650 free (17:09.46), 18th in the 1000 free (10:16.73), and 28th in the 500 free (5:05.15).  Away from the pool, Muccioli received CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American Second Team honors twice (2023-24 and 2024-25), while being selected for the same CSC Academic All-District award last season (2024-25).  Muccioli was named an Allstate NACDA Good Works Team Nominee during this past campaign.

Viaches - 3.63 GPA - Biochemistry & Chemical Biology
Viaches participated in six of the diving team's seven meets this past season.  The year included her first GLIAC Diver of the Week award on January 27 after a trio of top-four performances that week, with an overall victory in the three-meter dive (270.30) against Davenport.  Viaches nabbed both Second Team and Third Team All-GLIAC recognition at the conference championships this campaign by placing runner-up on the three-meter board (426.20), while finishing third in one-meter diving (416.20).  Those efforts qualified her for the NCAA Championships for the second time in as many seasons, where the sophomore obtained her first All-American honor (Second Team) by coming home in 15th overall on the one-meter board (394.50).  Viaches was also named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for the first time following the most-recent 2025-26 season.

Crispo - 3.93 GPA - Theater
Crispo appeared in all eight of the team's swim meets this past campaign.  She also garnered her first GLIAC Swimmer of the Week accolade on January 27 after winning the 200 IM event (2:06.08) against Davenport.  The sophomore became an All-GLIAC recipient for the first time at the 2026 GLIAC Championships by grabbing Third Team honors (third place) in the 200 breast (2:17.42), while coming home fifth in the 200 IM (2:05.56), sixth in the 400 IM (4:29.50), and 10th in the 100 breast (1:04.53).  Crispo has routinely been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) since arriving at Wayne State and was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for the first time in 2025-26.  She received CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American Second Team honors in 2024-25 to add to her growing line of awards after just two seasons with the program.
