Volleyball Signs International Middle Blocker

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University volleyball program under the direction of head coach Tim Koth, who will be entering his 13th season with the Warriors this fall, has announced the signing of a middle blocker for this fall in Doga Muhtaroglu (Izmir, Turkey).

"We are pleased to have Doga join us this fall," said Koth. "She is an explosive, aggressive and skilled middle that should be able to impact us immediately. She is also a very good student from a great family ... a perfect Warrior fit!"

High School: A 2025 graduate of Okyanus Koleji in Istanbul, Turkey ... attended the Türkiye U17 National Team Camp ... played in the U18 Volleyball Super League helping her team to first place during the 2023-24 season ... her 2022-23 squad finished fourth at the U18 Türkiye Championship ... played club volleyball for Gelisim Koleji SK Izmir during the 2025-26 season.

Personal: Full name -- Doga Muhtaroglu ... born on May 3, 2008, in Cigli, Turkey ... daughter of Aziz and Gozde Muhtaroglu ... name is pronounced Doah Moo-ta-row-loo ... plans to major in Psychology.

Last season, Wayne State compiled a 24-6 overall record, including a 13-3 GLIAC mark, which earned the Warriors a share of the conference's regular-season title. WSU then won the GLIAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Warriors graduated setter Abby Macalaguim, middle blocker Leigha Baldwin, libero Kendyl Andrews and senior All-American middle blocker Kayla Giroux.
