Women's Basketball Adds Another Transfer To Strengthen Lineup

Dillard joins the Warriors after two seasons at GVSU.

DETROIT -- Wayne State University women's basketball head coach Carrie Lohr, who enters her 16th season guiding the Warriors this fall, has announced the addition of a fourth transfer for the 2026-27 academic year in Tayla Dillard (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Kalamazoo Central [Grand Valley State]).  She joins three previously announced transfers.

"Tayla had an outstanding high school career and spent two years competing in a collegiate championship program," remarked Lohr.  "I look forward to seeing the impact she will have on our program, as she has already demonstrated an eagerness, determination, and commitment to embracing Warrior basketball, our campus community, and the city of Detroit."

2025-26:  Saw action in 29 games for Grand Valley State ... totaled 89 points, 32 rebounds (12-20), 18 steals, and 16 assists ... shot 30 percent (31-103) from the floor, including 28 percent (15-of-54) from beyond the arc ... tallied six points and a season-best five rebounds against LSSU (12/4) ... scored eight points versus Quincy (12/13) ... had a season-high 10 points at Aquinas (12/21) on a season-best four made field goals ... posted nine points at Purdue Northwest (2/5) by connecting on three triples ... notched seven points in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal win over LSSU (3/4).

2024-25:  Redshirted at GVSU.

High School:  A 2024 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School ... was a four-year varsity player for the Maroon Giants and coach James Plunkett ... received 2024 BCAM Division 1 Best recognition after averaging 16.5 points and seven rebounds per contest as a senior ... was a two-year team captain in basketball ... earned Academic All-State recognition ... averaged double figures in her final three seasons ... also competed in cross country and track and field for KCHS ... was a member of the National Honor Society ... played summer ball for the UTS Lady Elite AAU squad and coach Marcus Lancaster.
