Martyna Szpakowska (Gdansk, Poland / Sopocka Akademia Tenisowa) helped the women's tennis team to a 2-0 ledger this past weekend, defeating Purdue Northwest 6-1 and Roosvelt 6-1. Against the Pride, the senior notched a 6-1 win at the top doubles position with teammate Justine Beaulieu (Montreal, Que. / Collège de Montréal High School). She bested her singles opponent 6-0 in the first set and was leading 4-0 in the second before the PNW student-athlete retired, giving Szpakowska the victory. During the match against the Lakers, she triumphed 6-3 in doubles with Beaulieu and collected a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 2 singles position.
