* GAMES 8-9 STORYLINES

Wayne State, after having its four-game winning streak snapped last week, will look to start a new winning streak heading into the holiday break.

The two conference contests this week will be WSU's last games for 14 days until a Jan. 2 home contest vs. Northwood. Wayne State's final 19 games are all league matches.

* NORTHWOOD RECAP

Wayne State suffered its first GLIAC loss with a 94-85 double overtime setback at Northwood.

The Warriors led by three at intermission (37-24) despite being called for 15 fouls in the opening 20 minutes compared to eight for the Timberwolves. WSU shot 45 percent (13-of-29) from the floor in the first half, while NU made 44 percent (7-of-16) of its field goal attempts and 82 percent (18-of-22) from the charity stripe.

Bryan Smothers and Jerry Oden led WSU in the first half with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The second half was tightly contested but NU's Dorian Pierce drained a triple to knot the game at 64 with only 1.7 seconds remaining.

WSU shot 34 percent (11-of-32) from the floor in the second half and 3-of-5 from the foul line. Northwood made 42 percent (8-of-19) from the field and 9-of-11 (82 percent) from the foul line.

Each team scored 10 points in the first overtime period with Smothers and Oden each scoring four points. In the second overtime, WSU was only able to make two field goals, while the hosts made five shots from the floor plus 10-of-10 from the foul line.

Oden led WSU with 25 points and seven rebounds, while Smothers contributed 23 points including 14-of-16 from the foul line.

* LEWIS RECAP

The first half was a game of streaks with WSU scoring six consecutive points, but the Flyers had an 8-0 run. LU later had a 13-2 run for a 23-11 lead with 5:52 left.

The Warriors went on a 8-0 run to pull within four at intermission (25-21).

After an offensive rebound and basket by Ike Udanoh on the first possession of the second half, WSU trailed by two. Following a three-pointer by Bryan Wright that made it 28-26, Lewis had a 15-3 run to pull ahead 43-29.

Udanoh had 13 points to lead WSU.
