* GAME STORYLINES
After playing five of its first seven games on the road, Wayne State will begin a four-game home stand Thursday against Northern Michigan. WSU will look to avenge its loss to the Wildcats earlier this season and pick up its first GLIAC win in the process.
The contest also marks the first of two Wayne State games that will be televised on Comcast Local (channel 900).
Wayne State will conclude its weekend on Saturday when the Warriors host No. 1 Michigan Tech in a rematch from two weeks ago.
* ON THE BENCH
Gloria Bradley is in her 10th season at WSU and 17th season overall. Bradley's record at Wayne State is 109-143 while her career record stands at 223-212.
In her time at Wayne State, Bradley is 7-4 vs. Northern Michigan and 3-9 against Michigan Tech.
Michigan Tech is coached by two-time GLIAC Coach of the Year John Barnes. In his seventh year at Michigan Tech, Barnes has a career record of 132-52.
Northern Michigan is led by fifth year head coach Troy Mattson who has compiled a record of 42-71.
* SERIES NOTES
Despite losing the past two games in the series, including a 74-59 defeat earlier this month, WSU has won four of the last six contests against Northern Michigan. However, NMU holds a 28-15 lead in the all-time series.
In their last meeting at the Matthaei on Dec. 6, 2008, four Warriors scored in double figures and Wayne State came away with a 78-63 victory over the Wildcats.
It has been almost two years since Wayne State has defeated Michigan Tech. The Huskies have won the past five meetings by an average of 14.2 points and lead the all-time series 32-15.
* FAST BREAKS
-Senior guard
Brooke Bowers was held scoreless against Northwood on Dec. 9, snapping a streak of 33 games with at least one point. In 89 career games, Bowers has been shutout just four times.
-Bowers and sophomore guard
Felicia Thomas have both scored at least 10 points in four of Wayne State's seven games this season.
-In what is shaping up to be a career-year, junior guard
Chelsea Kouri has proven to be WSU's most accurate shooter with field goal and three-point percentages of 42.1 and 40.0 respectively.
-WSU is first in the GLIAC with 14.6 offensive rebounds per game.
-The Warriors are 40th in the nation in turnovers per game at 16.4.
* SCOUTING NORTHERN MICHIGAN
Northern Michigan enters Thursday's contest looking to get back on track after its three-game winning streak was halted by Michigan Tech 64-59 on Dec. 12. The Wildcats are led by Mariah Dunham and her 14.7 ppg. NMU is second in the GLIAC and 20th in Division II in three-point shooting at 40 percent.
* SCOUTING MICHIGAN TECH
Michigan Tech is in the midst of its best start in the past 10 years and have been atop the Division II USA Today/ESPN top 25 poll since the start of the season.
The Huskies lead the nation with a 1.53 assist-to-turnover ratio and are second in DII in turnovers per game (11.4).
Michigan Tech also allows a GLIAC- low 49.9 points per game. Three Huskies average at least 10 ppg and senior forward Katie Wysocky's 11.6 rpg are eighth in the nation.
* NORTHWOOD RECAP
WSU failed to find its shooting touch and finished the game with a 21.9 field goal percentage as Northwood dealt Wayne State its sixth loss of the season 75-39.
The silver lining in the loss was the play of freshman forward
Deanna Crumpton who set season-highs of 11 rebounds and three steals.
Thomas and Kouri scored 12 points apiece on 5-13 and 4-11 shooting. Kouri and freshman forward
Phaebre Colbert each grabbed six rebounds.
