* GAME STORYLINES
The Warriors come into Wednesday's contest against Northwood in search of their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory after losing their first two GLIAC games last week.

With Northwood having also lost its opening GLIAC contests of the season, the only sure thing about this matchup is that one team will leave the Bennett Sports Center Wednesday night with its first conference win of the season.

* ON THE BENCH
Gloria Bradley is in her 10th season at WSU and 17th season overall. Bradley's record at Wayne State is 109-142 while her career record stands at 223-211. In her time at Wayne State, Bradley is 5-5 against Northwood.

Northwood is led by Jeff Curtis who is in his sixth year as the Timberwolves' coach. Curtis has a career record of 69-70.

* ALL-TIME SERIES
Northwood holds a 24-18 lead over WSU including four consecutive wins against the Warriors. Three of the four losses have been by 10 or more points with the closest game coming on Dec. 6, 2007 when Northwood won 75-73. WSU has a record of 9-12 in games played at Northwood.

Wayne State's returning trio of senior guard Brooke Bowers, junior guard Chelsea Kouri and sophomore guard Felicia Thomas have played a total of nine games against the Timberwolves and have combined for 61 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists, 12 steals and two blocks.

* SCOUTING NORTHWOOD
After being tabbed to win the GLIAC's South Division in the preseason, Northwood began the season with wins over California (Pa.) and Mercyhurst before dropping games to Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.

Junior forward Pam Wilson has had a great start to the season, averaging 19.3 points and 8.8 rebounds a contest. Wilson has recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Timberwolves.

Senior forward Jodi Ostergren, a preseason All-GLIAC selection, has averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds a game.

* A TALE OF TWO HALVES
The first 20 minutes of play have not been friendly to Wayne State this season. Through six games, WSU has led at halftime just once and have a -57 (207-150) scoring margin.

Conversely, the Warriors have found success in the second half having outscored opponents three times and cutting the scoring margin to just -18 (215-197).

* OFFENSIVE HARDSHIP
Scoring may be at a premium on Wednesday. WSU and Northwood are both at the bottom of the GLIAC offensive rankings.

Neither Wayne State, or Northwood are shooting over 40 percent from the field (34.3 and 36.6), or 35 percent from three-point range (33.0 and 27.0) and the two teams have scored 65 points or more in a game just three times in 10 games.

* FAST BREAKS
-After playing just three minutes in WSU's first three games, freshman guard Paige Sickmiller saw increased playing time in the last two games and scored 17 points on 7-13 shooting while grabbing eight rebounds in 31 minutes.

-Freshman guard Amelia Davis made her first start at Northern Michigan and had a team-high six rebounds while scoring seven points.

-Freshman forward Deanna Crumpton's streak of having at least two blocks in a game ended at four after zero rejections against Northern Michigan.

-Bowers is currently in 19th place in WSU history with 911 points while her 463 attempted three-pointers are the third most in school history.

* UPPER PENINSULA TRIP RECAP

The Warriors took the long bus ride last week to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to begin GLIAC competition against conference foes #1 Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan.

Wayne State lost both games as the top-ranked Huskies prevailed 70-42 and Northern Michigan won 74-59.

WSU was unable to find its shooting touch all weekend and combined to hit just 38-130 (29.23 percent) from the field.

Bowers had team-highs of 16 and 11 points against Michigan Tech and NMU. Thomas and Sickmiller both scored 10 points against Northern Michigan.

Thomas also led WSU on the boards during the two games totaling eight rebounds including a career-best five rebound night against the Wildcats. Kouri, Crumpton and Amelia Davis all had seven rebounds in the two contests.
