Brooke Bowers (Delphos, Ohio/Jefferson) made her final home game a memorable one. The senior guard scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to lead the Wayne State women's basketball team past Tiffin
76-49 Saturday at the Matthaei on Senior Day.
The win gives the Warriors a record of 8-17 overall and 6-14 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. With two games to play, WSU has already surpassed last year's win total of seven games. Tiffin's record dropped to 7-18 overall and 4-16 in the GLIAC.
Bowers, who also had four assists, scored her 27 points off of an impressive shooting performance of 10-for-15 from the field overall and 6-for-9 from three-point range. At halftime, Bowers had more points (21) than Tiffin's entire team (20). She also extended her consecutive foul shots made streak to 15.

Phaebre Colbert (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) earned her first start of the season on Saturday and delivered 12 points, four rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

Deanna Crumpton (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood), who is the only WSU player to have started each game this season, scored 16 points while freshman guard
Tyler Hardy (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) returned to the starting lineup to tally 10 points and a game-high five assists. Freshman forward
Chelsea Davis (Canton, Mich./Plymouth Salem) came off the bench to grab seven rebounds.
Wayne State set season-bests in points scored (76), field goals made (33), assists (17) and turnovers (5). WSU also forced 19 TU turnovers and produced healthy shooting percentages of 47.1 percent (33-for-70) from the field and 43.8 percent (7-for-16) from three-point territory. Wayne State trailed for just 22 seconds on Saturday.
For the game, the Warriors had the advantage in points in the paint (40-22), points off of turnovers (16-2), second-chance points (12-7), fast break points (16-4) and bench scoring (11-5).
WSU wasted little time establishing itself, jumping out to a 23-7 lead with 13:20 left to play in the half. In the game's opening seven minutes, Wayne State shot 10-of-15 from the field with Bowers scoring 11 points and assisting on two other baskets.
Tiffin managed to trim four points off of the Wayne State lead through the next eight minutes to pull within 12 points (28-16), but the Warriors would go back on the attack after a 30 second WSU timeout to go on an 11-4 run to head into halftime up 39-20. The run was a two-women show with Bowers scoring seven of the points and Colbert adding the other four.
After the Dragons scored 13 of the second half's first 18 points, WSU headed back on the offensive with a 16-7 run that was spearheaded by six of Crumpton's 12 second-half points to push Wayne State's lead to 59-38 midway through the period.
WSU's lead grew to as many as 30 points (76-46) before TU scored the game's final three points for the green and gold's 76-49 victory.
Mandy Jaeb, the GLIAC's leading scorer, had a team-high 24 points for Tiffin and Jessica Harris grabbed 17 rebounds for the Dragons.
Wayne State will hit the road for the final two games of the season starting next Thursday at Grand Valley. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
