* GAME STORYLINES
The Wayne State women's basketball team, which has a record of 6-6 after starting the season 2-11, will play its final two games of the 2009-10 season on the road this weekend against Grand Valley on Thursday and Ferris State on Saturday.

WSU will be looking to earn a split in the season-series against GVSU and a season-sweep of FSU.

* ON THE BENCH

Gloria Bradley will wrap up her 10th season at WSU this week and her 17th season as a head coach. Bradley's record at Wayne State is 116-154 while her career record stands at 230-223.

In her time at Wayne State, Bradley is 3-9 vs. Grand Valley and 2-9 against Ferris State. A WSU win against the Bulldogs would give Bradley her first back-to-back wins against FSU.

In her third season as the head coach at Grand Valley, Janel Burgess has led the Lakers to winning seasons all three years. Her record at GVSU is 53-30.

One of the few coaches who have been in the GLIAC longer than Bradley is Ferris State head coach Tracey Dorow, who is in her 12th season with Ferris State. Dorow has a record of 194-143.

* SERIES NOTES
The Warriors need a win over Grand Valley to avoid their third losing streak of at least four games to GVSU; the first being a nine-game slide from 1985-1989 while the second losing streak lasted five games from 2003-2007. Wayne State's last win at Grand Valley was an 82-81 thriller on Jan. 11, 2001.

Earlier this season, WSU played a tight game at home against GVSU that saw the Warriors trail by just four points with 4:23 to play before ultimately falling 69-61. Wayne State made nine three-pointers and was led in scoring by senior guard Brooke Bowers and freshman forward Chelsea Davis with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Since losing by 19 points (90-71) to Ferris State in 2006, WSU's margin of defeat lessened over the next three meetings with FSU before the Warriors finally broke through for a victory earlier this season with a 69-63 win. Bowers and sophomore guard Felicia Thomas each scored a game-high 13 points while Thomas also matched her career-high of five assists. As a team, WSU shot 48.3 percent from the field vs. the Bulldogs.

Wayne State's last victory in Big Rapids, Mich. came on Jan. 4, 2003 (86-67).

*WSU NOTES
--Entering the final weekend of GLIAC competition, WSU ranks second in the GLIAC in turnover margin (+2.84), second in offensive rebounds per game (13.8) and fourth in steals per game (9.4).

--In Wayne State's first 13 games, WSU shot 34.7 percent (280-808). However, that percentage has jumped to 40.3 percent (306-759) in its last 12 contests.

--With two more starts, freshman forward Deanna Crumpton will match Kelly Kowalski (1986-87) for the most starts by a true freshman with 27.

--Junior guard Chelsea Kouri has all but assured herself of a spot in the WSU record books for thee-point accuracy in a season. Kouri is shooting 37.4 percent from long-range, the ninth best mark in WSU history.

--Barring a late barrage of three-pointers by Kouri, Bowers will be the first player in WSU history to lead the team in three's in a season for four consecutive years.

* SCOUTING GRAND VALLEY
The Lakers enter the weekend on a three-game losing streak and in need of a pair of wins to secure their spot as the second seed in the upcoming GLIAC tournament.

GVSU is ranked in the top-half of the GLIAC in several categories including defensive rebounding (32.0 pg/first), field goal percentage (45.4/second), blocked shots (2.9 pg/third), steals (9.9 pg/third) and assists (14.6 pg/fourth).

Grand Valley features a balanced scoring attack that is led by the inside-outside duo of center Alex Stelfox and guard Emma Veach at 12.0 ppg and 11.8 ppg respectively.  Stelfox also leads GVSU with 37 blocks while guard Jasmine Padin has team-highs of 104 assists and 46 steals.

* SCOUTING FERRIS STATE

While their hopes of a spot in the GLIAC tournament were ended last Saturday, the Bulldogs will look to snap their five-game losing streak against Northwood on Thursday and end the season with a win on Saturday vs. WSU.

Tiara Adams is the Bulldogs' leader in rebounds (213) and steals (41). At 11.8 ppg, Tricia Principe is FSU's best scorer and Becci Houdek has a team-high 79 assists.

* TIFFIN RECAP

Bowers made her final home game a memorable one. The senior guard scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to lead Wayne State past Tiffin 76-49.

Crumpton (16), freshman forward Phaebre Colbert (12) and freshman guard Tyler Hardy (10) all joined Bowers in double figures.
