ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Wayne State University men's swimming team has a
129-48 lead after the first day of a weekend dual meet at Lewis University.
The Warriors, ranked fifth in the latest Division II national poll released last week by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, won eight of the 10 events on Friday night.
Andrey Seryy won the 100 freestyle (44.79) and led off two first-place relays.
Seryy,
Oskar Nordstrand,
Joaquin Abascal Gallegos, and
Kristian Larsen finished first in the 800 free relay (6:54.62), and the quartet of Seryy,
Nathan Hesche,
Aaron Shields, and
Matt Victor won the 200 free relay (1:27.27).
The 200 medley relay combination of
Jimmy Lee, Victor, Hesche and Abascal Gallegos turned in a first-place time of 8:00.34.
Other individual winners Friday included Hesche in the 100 backstroke (52.99), Lee in the 200 individual medley (1:56.99), Abascal Gallegos in the 200 breaststroke (2:08.82) and
Justin Rauhoff in the 200 butterfly (1:59.94).
The dual meet will conclude Saturday afternoon.
