KALAMAZOO - The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team earned a
164-79 victory in a dual meet at Kalamazoo College on Friday night.
Divers
Carly Sevald and
Paige Kortman eclipsed the NCAA qualifying standards on the one-meter board, finishing first (264.80) and second (263.20). They also went one-two in the three-meter competition.
Catherine Leix picked up a “B” cut in the 1000 free (10:40.75), one of two events in which she finished first along with the 500 free (5:16.53).
Kayla Scott won and improved her “B” time in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.30).
Other first-place finishers included
Ashley Corriveau in the 200 free (1:58.38) and the 100 free (53.63), and
Carol Azambuja in the 200 IM (2:11.85) and the 100 backstroke (1:00.36)
Scott,
Kei Cze Prentis, and
Cristina Busquets Garcia were runners-up to their teammates in the 100 free, 200 IM and 100 back, respectively.
Wayne State will compete at Calvin College next Friday, Nov. 11, at 6:00 p.m.
