GAMES 9 & 10 STORYLINES
The Wayne State women's basketball team begins a four game homestand this week as the Warriors host Ohio Dominican on Thursday and Tiffin on Saturday at the Matthaei.
Wayne State picked up its first conference victory of the season, 59-52, last Thursday against Saginaw Valley State. The Warriors lost a 90-82 result at St. Joseph's (Ind.) on Saturday.
HOLIDAY HOOPS AT THE MATTHAEI
Wayne State is offering “Toys For Tickets” for both the Dec. 15 and 17 dates. Fans who bring in a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys For Tots will receive free admission to the games.
Saturday's games will also feature an Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest, giving fans who participate a chance to win prizes.

Ohio Dominican has lost three straight, including both games on a trip to the U.P. against Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan last weekend. Tiffin has split its four GLIAC contests this season, most recently falling at Michigan Tech, 75-59, on Saturday.
ALL-TIME SERIES
WSU defeated ODU in both meetings last season, the Panthers' first year in the GLIAC. The Warriors won a 70-64 result last December in Detroit.
Wayne State and Tiffin are tied, 5-5, in the all-time series dating back to 1995. The road team won each game last season, as the Warriors defeated the Dragons, 65-48, a year ago in Tiffin.
SAGINAW VALLEY STATE RECAP
Stefani Munro led the Warriors with a season-high 15 points, making several critical baskets late in Thursday's 59-52 win over the Cardinals. She was 6-for-12 from the field and chipped in four assists.
After leading by as many as 15 points in the first half, the Warriors found themselves down by five midway through the second half. Wayne State fought back, however, to defeat SVSU for the fifth time in the last six meetings.
Paige Sickmiller and
Deanna Crumpton finished with eight points and eight rebounds apiece.
Chloe Srebernak had her best game as a Warrior, contributing nine points and eight boards off the bench.
ST. JOSEPH'S RECAP
The Pumas defeated the Warriors, 90-82, despite a tremendous performance by
Juanita Cochran last Saturday.
Cochran racked up 28 points and grabbed 23 rebounds, the most by a WSU player since Marie Doss amassed a school-record 26 rebounds against Northwood on Feb. 22, 1986. Cochran also posted the 10th 20-plus rebound game in program history.
Crumpton also had a double-double, contributing 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Warriors (44 percent) out-shot the Pumas (40 percent) overall from the field, but SJC was far more prolific from three-point range, finishing 8-for-26 compared to 1-for-7 for WSU. The Pumas also doubled the Warriors in free throws made (30-15).
Munro and
Phaebre Colbert finished with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
ON THE BENCH
Carrie Lohr is 5-3 as the head mentor of the women's basketball program. She was named the 12th head coach in program history on May 11 after serving as the head coach at St. Clair County Community College (SC4) in Port Huron for nine seasons (2002-11). Lohr had a record of 166-106 (.610) in her nine years with the Skippers.
In his sixth season at Ohio Dominican, Nathan Bellman has a career record of 89-66.
Pam Oswald is 46-69 in her sixth year at Tiffin.
SCOUTING OHIO DOMINICAN
The Panthers have been victimized by lengthy scoring droughts over their last two games. ODU was held to just two field goals in the second half of last Thursday's 59-42 loss at Michigan Tech, while a 20-5 run by Northern Michigan starting late in the first half proved to be the Panthers' undoing in a 69-50 result.
Senior forward Abby Glover is tied for third in the conference in rebounding (9.5 rpg) and ranks 17th in scoring (12.5 ppg). She has scored in double figures five times, including a 10-point performance Saturday.
Classmate Meredith Fox averages 11.5 points per game.
SCOUTING TIFFIN
The Dragons have alternated wins and losses over their first four GLIAC contests, picking up victories over Ferris State and Northern Michigan, the latter coming on the road last Thursday. Tiffin will visit Findlay this Thursday before coming to Detroit.
Guards Mandy Jaeb (13.7 ppg) and Karli Mast (13.3 ppg) lead the Tiffin offense. Mast is also an 82.4 percent free throw shooter, and ranks fourth in the conference in three-point percentage (47.2).
The Dragons do a solid job of taking care of the basketball, as they have the second-best turnover margin (+6.00) in the conference.
