GAMES 17 & 18 STORYLINES

Wayne State has reached the mid-point of the conference schedule and is tied-for-ninth, 1/2 game behind Northern Michigan.

The Warriors begin a stretch of four road games in the next six contests after dropping a pair of home matches last week.

ALL-TIME SERIES

WSU trails Tiffin, 6-5, in the all-time series after dropping the last two meetings.  The Warriors have a 3-2 mark at Gillmore Center.  The teams have split the last four season series.

WSU has won all three series meetings against the Panthers, including the only meeting in Columbus, 72-55, last year.

HILLSDALE RECAP

WSU split its season series with Hillsdale College as the Warriors fell, 67-58, to the Chargers on Jan. 12.

Wayne State, which shot 34.3 percent in each half, took a 29-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.  Hillsdale heated up in the second half, however, and shot 16-for-32 from the field after posting just a 23.5 percentage in the first 20 minutes.

Deanna Crumpton and Juanita Cochran each finished with a double-double.  Crumpton had 14 points and 14 rebounds, one shy of her career-high.  Cochran led the Warriors with 15 points and 16 rebounds while also contributing three blocks.

Down 3-2 within the first minute of the game, the Warriors went on a seven-point run and led for the remainder of the half, during which they were ahead by as many as seven.  Crumpton and Cochran combined for 17 of WSU's 29 points and 18 of its 30 rebounds in the opening half.

The Chargers outscored the Warriors, 43-29, in the second half including a 25-6 run spanning over nine minutes.  A three-pointer by Kadie Lowery with 10:34 to go gave Hillsdale a 45-42 lead and the visitors never relinquished it.

Chelsea Harrison accumulated 15 of her 23 points after halftime for Hillsdale.  She also had nine rebounds and six assists.

FINDLAY RECAP

One week removed from an overtime victory at Findlay, the Warriors lost an 88-71 result to the Oilers on Jan. 14.

Much like in Thursday's game against Hillsdale, the Warriors led at halftime but were undone by a lengthy second-half run by the visitors.  UF put together a 25-5 run in the second half to pull away.

With her fifth double-double of the season, Cochran led the Warriors with 19 points and 13 rebounds.  She shot 9-for-13 from the field.

Wayne State took its largest lead of the first half, 28-21, as Stefani Munro made a pair of free throws with 4:56 left.  Findlay followed with an 11-point run, however, and took its first lead of the game before a subsequent 6-0 run by the Warriors gave them a 38-34 advantage at the break.

Paige Sickmiller accumulated 13 of her 15 points in the opening 20 minutes.  She finished the game 6-for-13 as the Warriors shot 49 percent in the first half.

A layup by Phaebre Colbert put WSU ahead, 50-41, with 16:23 to play.  The Oilers heated up and outscored the Warriors, 47-21, the rest of the way, taking the lead for good at 54-52 with 12:32 left.  Findlay shot 59 percent in the final 20 minutes.

Lacey Kessler and Kayla Brown led Findlay with 26 and 22 points, respectively.

ON THE BENCH

Carrie Lohr is 9-7 as the head mentor of the women's basketball program. She was named the 12th head coach in program history on May 11 after serving as the head coach at St. Clair County Community College (SC4) in Port Huron for nine seasons (2002-11).  Lohr had a record of 166-106 (.610) in her nine years with the Skippers.

Tiffin's Pam Oswald has compiled a 53-71 record in her fifth year with the Dragons.

Sixth-year Ohio Dominican head coach Nathan Bellman has an 89-73 record with the Panthers.
