GAMES 16 & 17 STORYLINES

Wayne State snapped a five-game losing streak last Saturday with a thrilling win over Findlay.  The Warriors make their final regular-season road trip to Ohio this week with games at Tiffin (Thursday) and Ohio Dominican (Saturday).

ALL-TIME SERIES

Wayne State has won all 11 previous meetings vs. the Dragons, including a 5-0 record at the Gillmor Center.

WSU has been victorious in all three prior meetings with the Panthers, including last year's 69-66 triumph in Columbus as the Warriors scored five points in the final three seconds.

HILLSDALE RECAP

In a tight game which saw 14 lead changes and 20 ties, Wayne State came out on the short end of a 78-72 result against Hillsdale on Jan. 12.

The Warriors shot 58 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, but just 36 percent in the second half as their losing streak reached five games.  The Chargers, meanwhile, won their 10th in a row and swept the season series with WSU.

Ike Udanoh led three Warriors in double figures with 24 points while totaling a game-high nine rebounds.  He finished 8-for-12 from the field and 8-for-10 from the free throw line.

Ian Larkin, who tallied 18 points and six rebounds in the game, and Udanoh had 13 points apiece in the first half, during which the largest margin of separation between the two sides was five points.  A triple by Larkin gave WSU a 27-22 lead with 6:12 to go until halftime.  The Chargers scored 15 of the next 24 points, however, to take a 37-36 advantage into the locker room.

A three-pointer by Stacey Waters gave Wayne State its last lead of the contest, 63-60, with 5:20 remaining.  Shortly after a 9-0 Charger run, a pair of free throws from Bryan Coleman with a minute left put the Warriors down by two, 71-69.

On the next possession, Brad Guinane, who led Hillsdale with 21 points, sealed it on a three-pointer with 35 seconds to go.

Earning his first double-double as a Warrior, Cole Prophet finished with 11 points and 10 assists.

FINDLAY RECAP

WSU moved into a second-place tie in the GLIAC South Division by upending visiting Findlay, 76-73, on Jan. 14.

Neither team made a field goal in the first 6:30 of the contest.

Coleman ended the drought by hitting a jumper putting the hosts ahead 6-0.  After a dunk by Udanoh made it 8-0, the Oilers responded with eight consecutive points for the only tie of the contest (WSU never trailed in the game).

Larkin scored every Warrior point in an 8-1 run to put the Warriors in front 18-9.

Deon Dismuke made both shots in a double bonus situation with 2:30 remaining pushing the Warrior lead to 13 (60-47).

Findlay scored 26 points in the final 150 seconds as Kyle Caiola made 4-of-5, including all three three-point shots along with two free throws for 13 points.  Sean Samsel tallied 11 points during the late rally on 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.

Wayne State recorded 16 points in the final 2:30 with 10 coming from the foul line.

ON THE BENCH

David Greer, just the ninth head coach in 94 years of WSU basketball, is in his 11th season at WSU with a 158-135 record.

He is the fifth-longest tenured coach at WSU. The 22 victories by the Warriors in 2010-11 were the most since the 1998-99 NCAA qualifying squad compiled a 25-5 record.

Wayne State's 14 GLIAC wins last year are the most since the same 1998-99 team took first place with a 16-3 mark.

John Hill has a record of 17-53 in his third year with the Dragons.

Artie Taylor has compiled a 53-75 record in five seasons with the Panthers.

SCOUTING TIFFIN

The Dragons are 3-2 in their last five games after starting the year at 4-8.  TU has a 4-4 record at home this season.

Senior guard Karl Finley is second in the GLIAC in scoring (19.2 points per game), while sophomore guard Joe Graessle is second in three-pointers made per game (2.6).  His 44 triples leads Tiffin as does his 56 assists.  Graessle is second in scoring at 15.1 ppg.

TU is second in the GLIAC in scoring, but last in scoring defense.

Senior center Brandon Harris leads the league in blocks (1.9 pg), while senior forward Travis Spahr is fourth in rebounding (9.2 pg).  Spahr is also averaging in double figures (11.9 ppg).

Freshman forward Iman Johnson has a team-high 27 steals.

SCOUTING OHIO DOMINICAN

The Panthers have lost four straight and 11 of 12 heading into Thursday's game against Northwood.

Ohio Dominican has a 1-4 mark at home this season.

The Panthers are last in the GLIAC in scoring and 13th in scoring defense.

Junior guard Morgan Jones leads ODU in scoring (13.4 points per game) and assists (39), also leads the GLIAC in steals (2.4 per game).

Senior forward Aaron Gibbs has team-high totals of 19 blocks and 6.7 rebounds per game, while averaging 9.8 ppg.

Senior forward Jake Mochoskay has made a team-best 23 triples.
