YPSILANTI - The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team competed in a dual meet Friday night at Eastern Michigan University, resulting in a
134-104 victory for the Eagles.
Wayne State began the meet with its first of three event victories, as the 200 medley relay of
Cristina Busquets Garcia,
Kayla Scott,
Gloria Martinez Perez, and
Ashley Corriveau came in with a time of 1:49.03.
Individual victories came from Corriveau in the 50 freestyle (24.36) and
Carol Azambuja in the 100 freestyle (52.33). Azambuja was also the runner-up in the 200 freestyle (1:54.57).
Brittany Wilkins earned an NCAA “B” qualifier in the 1000 freestyle (10:34.93), finishing second, and improved another “B” cut in the 500 freestyle (5:09.67). She finished third in the 500 just off the pace of
Catherine Leix who came in second (5:09.30).
Leading the diving corps was
Paige Kortman who finished fourth on both the one-meter (234.00) and three-meter (250.57) boards.
