GAMES 19 & 20 STORYLINES

Wayne State ended its three-game losing streak with a win at Ohio Dominican.

The Warriors are eighth in the GLIAC and begin a stretch of five home games in the next seven contests.

ALL-TIME SERIES

WSU trails Ashland, 28-14, in the all-time series after dropping the seven of the last eight meetings (the lone Wayne State win was 77-75 at home on Dec. 4, 2010).  The Warriors have a 9-12 mark all-time at home vs. the Eagles.

WSU lost its only previous home game to the Storm, 78-72, on Dec. 2, 2010.

TIFFIN RECAP

WSU suffered its third consecutive setback with an 84-70 loss at Tiffin University on Jan. 19.

After the Dragons scored on their first possession, the Warriors recorded the next four points on buckets by Juanita Cochran and Phaebre Colbert to take their only lead of the game at 4-2.  Tiffin's Mandy Jaeb then scored the next five points giving the hosts a 7-4 advantage.

Kayla Bridges tallied four straight WSU points cutting the deficit to 13-10.  Deanna Crumpton scored nine of Wayne State's next 11 points, including her first three pointer of the campaign, but the Warriors still trailed 27-21 with 5:40 remaining as Tiffin's Karli Mast was in the midst of making four consecutive triples in a span of 2:26.  Her last three-point field goal put the Dragons ahead 33-21 with just under five minutes left.

Tiffin began the second half on a 12-2 run to open a 20-point lead at 56-36 with 16:24 left.  The Warriors responded with their own 12-2 run to close the deficit to 10 (58-48).  Wayne State would only get within nine on two occasions the rest of the way.

Colbert led three Warriors in double figures with 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.  Mast led all scorers with 23 points including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.

OHIO DOMINICAN RECAP

The Warriors led by one (34-33) at intermission after a tight first half.  WSU's biggest advantage of the opening 20 minutes was six points (30-24) following a 6-0 run which included baskets by Areona Dobbins, Paige Sickmiller and Cochran.

A 4-2 spurt by Ohio Dominican to start the second half put the hosts in front 37-36.  Five straight points by Sickmiller gave WSU the lead and started a 12-4 run which gave the Warriors a 48-41 lead with just under 15 minutes left.

Wayne State remained in front for nearly six minutes until the Panthers finished off a 13-1 run highlighted by Meredith Fox's 10 points.  ODU led 59-54 with eight minutes left, but the Warriors responded with a 14-3 stretch which included six points by Colbert.

WSU led 68-62 with 2:22 remaining, but an ODU triple made it a two-point game at 70-68 before Crumpton had an offensive rebound and put-back for a four-point advantage.

After a lay-up by Panther Abby Glover, Colbert sealed the win with a pair of free throws.

Sickmiller scored a season-high 20 points, which included a career-high tying four triples.  Colbert and Cochran each had 15 points, while Crumpton added 13 points.

Fox led ODU with 19 points.
