DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's basketball team (12-7 overall, 9-4 GLIAC) extended its winning streak to three games by downing GLIAC South Division rival Lake Erie College (7-11 overall, 2-9 GLIAC)
92-57 on Saturday afternoon at the Matthaei.
The Warriors started the game on a 16-0 run and never led by fewer than 13 the rest of the way.
WSU made its first nine shots of the game including two triples by senior guard
Stacey Waters (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) to open a 20-2 lead in the first five minutes. Meanwhile, Lake Erie had five turnovers and two missed lay-ups in its first seven possessions.
Wayne State scored the final six points of the first half for its largest lead of the opening 20 minutes (29 points) at 52-23. The Warriors shot a torrid 66 percent (21-of-32) before intermission while limiting the Storm to 42 percent (8-of-19) and forcing LEC into 12 miscues.

Ian Larkin (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) had 18 points at the break.
Lake Erie scored first to start the second half but a jumper by Larkin and a dunk by senior center
Ike Udanoh (Detroit, Mich./Warren Woods Tower) stretched the lead to 31. Four straight points by the Storm preceeded a 7-0 Warrior run for a 63-29 advantage five minutes into the second half.
Every player dressed for the Warriors played at least 11 minutes.
Larkin tallied a game-high 22 points, with Waters adding 20 on 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Udanoh recorded his 10th double-double with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Tom Parker led LEC with 11 points off the bench.
Wayne State had a decisive 52-18 advantage on points in the paint.
The Warriors will play a pair of contests next week in the Upper Peninsula starting with a Thursday game at Northern Michigan.
