OPENING WEEK STORYLINES

Wayne State opened its season on the road and despite a 38-36 halftime lead at No. 4 Bellarmine, the Warriors were dealt a 79-65 loss.

In its home opener, WSU won a thriller over Lewis, 70-69. WSU shot 7-of-15 from behind the three-point line and had advantages in rebounds (37-35), turnovers (9-11) and free throws made (13-5).

CONFERENCE OPENERS

WSU opens its GLIAC slate with two games on the road followed by two at home.
    
The Warriors are 8-3 in GLIAC openers under head coach David Greer, including wins in the last six conference openers. Wayne State won five straight GLIAC contests to open the 2011-12 season, including victories over Tiffin and Ohio Dominican.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Wayne State leads Tiffin 11-1 in the all-time series, which dates back to 1986. The Warriors won the first 11 games against the Dragons before dropping an 83-77 contest at Tiffin on Jan. 19, 2012.
    
WSU is 4-0 all-time vs. Ohio Dominican. The Warriors have won both games on the road against the Panthers.

BIG START

Junior guard Chene Phillips has scored at least 18 points in each of the first two games. Phillips scored a team-high 18 points in his Warrior debut at Bellarmine.
    
In his first start at home, Phillips posted a game-high 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes. Phillips spent his first two collegiate seasons playing for Liberty University, where his previous game high was eight points.

ON THE BENCH

David Greer is currently in his 12th season as head coach of men's basketball at WSU. Greer is 168-139 and is the fifth-longest tenured head coach in WSU history.
    
John Hill has a 27-59 record in his fourth season as men's basketball coach at Tiffin.
    
Artie Taylor is in his sixth season at the helm of the Ohio Dominican men's basketball program. Taylor has a 57-86 record.

SCOUTING TIFFIN

The Dragons opened their season by going 1-1 at the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge, beating McKendree and falling to Maryville University-St. Louis.
    
Most recently, Tiffin scored 117 points in a victory over Ohio State University-Mansfield. As a team, the Dragons have made 29 three-pointers in four games and are pulling down 6.0 more rebounds per game than their opponents. Tiffin also has 74 offensive rebounds through four games, 40 more than its opponents.
    
Junior guard Joe Graessle leads Tiffin at 23.3 points per game and has also connected on 13 three-pointers through four games. Junior guard Mike Boan (11.5 ppg) and freshman forward Eric Roby (10.3) are also averaging in double figures for TU. Sophomore Mike Brown leads the team with 19 assists.

SCOUTING OHIO DOMINICAN

The Panthers have won three straight games, winning by an average of 9.3 points per game. Ohio Dominican's most recent victory was a 72-71 overtime win over Central State (Ohio).
    
ODU has averaged 76.0 points per game through four games. The Panthers are averaging 44.8 rebounds per game and are pulling down 6.5 more rebounds per game than their opponents.
    
Senior guard Morgan Jones leads the Panthers at 16.0 points and 5.2 assists per game. Freshman guard Mark Minch (13.5 ppg) and Bobby Stauffer (12.2 ppg) are also averaging in double figures for ODU.
    
Senior forward John Trew leads Ohio Dominican at 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. Trew and Jones are the lone two seniors for ODU.
