DETROIT -- The 34th-ranked Wayne State University men's basketball team entered Saturday's home contest against No. 19 Drury on a five-game winning streak. However, the Panthers came to Motown with a 6-0 mark. WSU contributed to its 82-78 setback but having 11 second-half turnovers and only shooting 8-of-15 from the foul line over the last 20 minutes. DU improves to 7-0 while WSU will take a 5-2 record into Wednesday's league game at Malone.
The first half was back and forth with six ties and four lead changes. Neither team led by more than two points for the first seven minutes until a triple by DU's Alex Hall at 13:00 mark put the guests in front 14-11. Another Hall three-pointer put DU in front by five (17-12) with 11:43 remaining before intermission. The five-point margin was the Panthers largest lead before halftime.

Jamar Ragland (Detroit, Michh./Loyola) pulled WSU within one at 21-20 at the 8:19 mark, but Drury went on a 5-1 run for a 25-22 advantage.
Wayne State responded with an 11-0 run holding the Panthers without a field goal for over three minutes as WSU had two more three-pointers - Prophet and junior guard
Mike Hollingsworth (Utica, Mich.) along with three free throws and a lay-up by Coleman. The eight-point advantage was the Warriors largest of the opening 20 minutes.
DU made it a two-point game (37-35) with 2:09 left, but Wayne State ended the half on a 7-2 run for a 44-37 lead at the break. Both teams made 15 field goals in the first half with WSU connecting on 6-of-12 from beyond the arc compared to 4-of-6 for DU. Prophet and Hollingsworth tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively in the first half, which saw the Warriors force 11 Panther turnovers leading to a 14-0 edge in points off turnovers.
Wayne State maintained its lead early in the second half even pushing it to a 10-point advantage (53-43 and 56-46). After a triple by senior forward
Ian Larkin (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) gave WSU its largest lead (56-46), the Panthers went on a 16-0 run over the next five minutes as the Warriors had four turnovers and were 0-for-5 from the floor.
A jumper by Ragland ended the scoreless drought and made it a four-point game (62-58). Two minutes later a fast break jumper by Prophet pulled WSU within one (64-63). Drury answered with a 7-0 run, then pushed its lead to 10 (75-65) with just over five minutes left.
Two Hollingsworth triples and an offensive put-back by Prophet were part of a 12-3 Warrior run which narrowed the deficit to one (78-77) in the waning seconds. Hollingsworth second shot from beyond the arc came with 58.9 seconds left cutting the margin to two (77-75).
Each team missed a field goal attempt on their next possessions before DU's Kameron Bundy split a pair from the foul line with 15.9 seconds remaining making it 78-75. Hollingsworth was fouled by Hall on a triple try with 9.6 seconds left and made two-of-three to narrow the gap to one (78-77).
Hall was fouled on the inbounds and connected on both shots in a double bonus situation with seven seconds remaining increasing DU's lead to 80-77. Prophet was fouled just after he crossed mid-court with 5.5 seconds left. He made the second free throw in the double bonus situation but Hall sealed the win for Drury by making two foul shots with exactly four seconds left.
Hollingsworth led all scorers with 21 points, while Prophet contributed 19 for Wayne State. Hollingsworth was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and garnered three assists. Junior guard
Chene Phillips (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) chipped in with 13 points and a team-best five assists.
Cameron Adams led Drury with 20 points off the bench in 36 minutes. Despite being limited to two triples and 4-of-10 shooting, Hall added 16 points. Lonnie Boga, in his first game of the season, tallied 11 points including three triples. DU's Brandon Lockhart recorded a game-high 10 assists.

Gerald Williams-Taylor (Flint, Mich./Northern) had a game-high seven rebounds despite WSU being out-rebounded 35-31, including 22-14 in the second half.
