Wednesday's game against Ashland will be broadcast on Comcast/Xfinity channel 900. Ryan Ermanni (play-by-play), Rod Beard (color commentator) and Joe Abramson (sideline reporter) will be calling the action.
GAME STORYLINES
Wayne State enters its matchup against No. 1-ranked Ashland on a two-game winning streak. The Warriors opened their GLIAC schedule with a pair of road victories over Tiffin and Ohio Dominican last week.
WSU scored a season-high total of 84 points against Tiffin and held TU and ODU to an average of 58.5 points.
The Warriors have also outrebounded all of its opponents so far this season. Wayne State leads the GLIAC in rebounding at 47.5 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY
The Warriors have lost their last three games to Ashland and eight of their last nine overall. WSU's last victory against Ashland was a 77-75 victory in Detroit on Dec. 4, 2010. WSU is 9-13 all-time at home against AU.
Wayne State is 2-2 in its all-time series with Lake Erie. The Warriors won its most recent matchup against the Storm, taking a 67-64 victory on Jan. 28, 2012.
SCOUTING ASHLAND
The No. 1-ranked Eagles have won their first eight games by an average of 24.3 points per game.
Ashland is led by senior Kari Daugherty, who earned the GLIAC Player of the Year and NCAA Division II Female Athlete of the Year awards following the 2011-12 season.
Daugherty has posted 25 consecutive double-doubles, dating back to the 2011-12 season. She is averaging 24.4 points, 15.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
Senior Davia Gerbec (10.8 ppg) and junior Alyssa Miller (10.4 ppg) also average in double figures for AU. Miller leads the team in assists with 46 and blocks with six.
Ashland has made 64 three-pointers through eight games and are making 41.3 percent of their attempts. Lindsay Tenyak leads AU with 16 three-pointers.
SCOUTING LAKE ERIE
The Storm has played its first five games at home and dropped its first two GLIAC games after starting the season 2-1 in non-conference play. Lake Erie lost its second conference matchup 57-52 to Grand Valley in overtime.
Lake Erie is led by post threat Ashar Harris, who averages 18.2 points and 15.6 rebounds per game. She is also shooting 54.8 percent from the floor and has grabbed at least 10 rebounds in each game this season.
Jackie Martin is a perimeter threat for the Storm. All 16 of her made field goals are three-pointers. She is second on the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game.
Shelby Carpenter is third on the team at 9.4 points per game and leads the team with 21 steals.
GAME 3 & 4 RECAPS
Wayne State scored 52 points in the second half to roll past Tiffin, 84-57.
Talisha Bridges posted career-high totals of 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Warriors.
Phaebre Colbert and
Paige Sickmiller each added 16 points and
Kristen Long tallied a career-best 10 points for WSU.
Stephanie Lock also scored a career-high total of seven points for WSU. The Warriors shot 47.1 percent, including 52.6 percent in the second half against Tiffin.
In a 67-60 victory at Ohio Dominican, Sickmiller hit three three-pointers and paced the Warriors with 19 points.
Brittany Streetman came off the bench for three three-pointers and scored a career-high 11 points.
Talisha Bridges added nine rebounds and the WSU defense forced ODU into 22 turnovers.
ON THE BENCH
Carrie Lohr is in her second season as head coach of the WSU women's basketball program. Lohr is 14-16 in her Warrior coaching career.
Sue Ramsey is in her 18th season as head coach of the women's basketball program at Ashland. Ramsey is 294-198 in her Ashland coaching career.
Bob Booher has compiled a 78-109 record and is in his sixth season as head coach of Lake Erie.
