Women's Basketball Returns to GLIAC Slate With Pair of Home Games

The Warriors have won four straight games and six out of their past seven contests.

GAME STORYLINES
The Warriors are coming off two victories in two days at the 2012 WSU Holiday Classic Tournament. Wayne State has won four straight games overall and six out of its past seven contests.
    
The two tournament games also marked the final two non-conference contests this season. WSU finished 2-2 against non-league foes. With the wins, the Warriors also improved to 3-2 this season at home.
    
Wayne State focuses on league play from here on out and currently is third in the GLIAC North Division with a 4-1 record. Ferris State and Michigan Tech are tied for first in the GLIAC North at 5-1.

LAST TIME OUT
WSU pulled down a season-best 64 rebounds and won its fourth straight game by double digits in a 71-50 home victory over Urbana.
    
Four players scored in double figures for WSU. Paige Sickmiller and Talisha Bridges paced Wayne State with 16 points each, while Deanna Crumpton added 14 points and Phaebre Colbert tallied 13 points. Colbert also pulled down 15 rebounds. Crumpton had seven rebounds and Talisha Bridges collected seven rebounds and six assists.
    
The contest was tied early at 8, but WSU used an 15-0 run to take a 23-8 lead. The Warriors held a double-digit advantage for the entire second half, leading by as much as 26 points.
    
Following the conclusion of the tournament, Talisha Bridges was named Tournament MVP, while Sickmiller and Crumpton were named to the All-Tournament team.

SERIES HISTORY
Wayne State went 1-1 against both Hillsdale and Findlay in 2011-12, coach Lohr's first season at WSU.
    
The Warriors dropped a 67-58 contest to HC on Jan. 12,  and also fell in Detroit to Findlay, 88-71, on Jan. 14. WSU won its road games against each team last season.
    
Wayne State is 19-13 all-time against Hillsdale at home. WSU is 31-35 against the Chargers overall.
    
The Warriors are 10-6 in Detroit vs. Findlay and 15-17 against the Oilers overall.

SCOUTING HILLSDALE
The Chargers have lost four games in a row after starting the season 4-1. HC is 1-5 in league games, with its lone victory coming over Lake Superior at home. The Chargers' matchup against WSU also marks the start of six of seven games away from Hillsdale.
    
HC is led by sophomore center Megan Fogt, who is the lone Charger to average in double figures. She is scoring 15.4 points per game. Fogt also is third in the GLIAC by averaging 11.7 rebounds per game. She is shooting 59.6 percent from the floor.
    
Junior guard Marissa DeMott leads Hillsdale with 17 three-pointers made. Freshman guard Ashlyn Landherr leads the team in assists with 25.
   
SCOUTING FINDLAY
The Oilers have won two out of their past three games and are 7-3 overall. UF had a five-game winning streak to start its season.
    
Findlay is 5-1 at home but 2-2 on the road. The Oilers fell at Urbana in overtime and at Northern Michigan for their two road defeats.
    
Findlay is led by senior Kayla Brown, who is averaging 19.1 points per game. She has led the Oilers in scoring in eight of 10 games this season. Brown has a 51.7 percent shooting clip from the field and has made 24 three-pointers. She also has 32 steals.
    
Senior forward Tai Dotson is the Findlay leader in rebounding at 5.8 rebounds per game. Dotson is the second-leading UF scorer at 9.3 ppg.
    
ON THE BENCH
Carrie Lohr is in her second season as head coach of the WSU women's basketball program.  Lohr is 18-17 in her Warrior coaching career.
    
Claudette Charney is in her 11th season at the helm of the women's basketball squad at Hillsdale. Charney earned her 500th victory in a victory on Nov. 24 over Ohio Midwestern College. She has 501 wins overall.
    
Katie Cummings is in her seventh season as the women's basketball coach at Findlay. She has a 90-85 record in her UF coaching career.

REBOUND WARRIORS
The Warriors lead the GLIAC in rebounding at 47.3 rebounds per game. WSU also pulls down the most offensive boards (19.1 per game) in the league. Wayne State holds a 10.9 rebounding margin over opponents. WSU has only been outrebounded once this season.
