University Center, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's basketball team (15-5 overall, 13-3 GLIAC) rebounded from a slow start (trailing 6-0 and 13-4) to claim a 68-58 triumph Saturday evening at Saginaw Valley State University (10-11 overall, 8-9 GLIAC).

The Warriors made just one field goal in the first 6:45, but two triples by redshirt freshman forward Stephanie Lock (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) and eight points from senior forward Phaebre Colbert (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) jump started the WSU offense.

The Cardinals led 19-17 at the mid-point of the first half, but WSU out-scored the hosts 12-7 over the final 10 minutes before intermission to grab a 29-26 advantage at halftime.

Colbert had 10 points before the break, with Lock adding eight.

Wayne State began the second half in total opposite success than the first half, tallying 16 points in the first five minutes with eight of those coming from senior forward Talisha Bridges (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix).  The Warriors had a 45-33 lead at the first media timeout, but the Cardinals answered with a 12-6 run to pull within six at 51-45.

WSU scored the next five points for an 11-point margin (56-45) and never led by fewer than six (60-54) the rest of the contest.

Talisha Bridges and Colbert tied for game-high scoring honors with 16 points apiece, while Lock and senior center Juanita Cochran (Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill) added 11 and 10 points, respectively.  Both Talisha Bridges (11 rebounds) and Colbert (game-high 13 boards) turned in double-double performances.

Emily Wendling led SVSU with 15 points.

Wayne State maintained its one-half game lead over Michigan Tech in the GLIAC North Division with the win and the Warriors begin a three-game homestand on Feb. 14 against the aforementioned Huskies.
