Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's basktball team (11-2 overall, 8-1 GLIAC) had its 10-game winning streak snapped with a 77-65 setback at Northwood University (7-6 overall, 5-4 GLIAC) Thursday evening.

The Warriors trailed most of the first half as Northwood jumped out to a 13-7 at the first media timeout. Junior center Shareta Brown (Pontiac, Mich. / Grand Blanc) scored seven of WSU's first 10 points, but the Timberwolves earned a double-digit lead after Sarah Susan made it 20-10 on a lay-up with 11:44 remaining in the first half.

The Warriors chipped away at the deficit and trailed by one point, 28-27, after Brown converted a three-pointer from the top of the key with 6:22 remaining in the half. Northwood would proceed to go on an 11-0 run to lead by 12 points, 39-27, with 3:17 left in the first half.

Wayne State scored the final six points of the first half, after junior Ashley Wilson (Portage, Mich. / Northern) converted on a pair of free throws, and Brown and junior Jackie Jones (Detroit, Mich. / Martin Luther King) added consecutive lay-ups. WSU trailed at halftime, 39-33. Brown had 18 points and eight rebounds at halftime, sinking 8 of 9 shots.

The Warriors came out of the break strong, scoring 10 of the first 12 points to take a 43-41 lead. Consecutive triples by sophomore Destiny Lavita-Stephens (Grand Blanc, Mich. / Goodrich) and Jones gave WSU its first lead since a 2-0 lead to start the game.

WSU continued to build upon its lead, leading 53-47 after two free throws by Brown and again at 55-49 after a jumper by Lavita-Stephens. Northwood's Lauren Robak, who scored a game-high 27 points, scored nine straight points, however, to secure the lead for Northwood once again, 58-55 with 6:53 remaining.

NU's Sarah Susan added a free throw and Robak sank two foul shots as Northwood completed its 12-0 run with a 61-55 lead and 5:46 left on the game clock.

Sophomore Kristen Long (Corunna, Mich. / Durand) connected on a three-pointer for WSU to pull the game to within three points, 61-58, but that's as close as the Warriors would get.
