Women's Swimming and Diving Drops Meet at Oakland

Warriors lose 167-126 to Division I Golden Grizzlies

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team fell against Oakland University, a Division I squad, 167-126 at the OU Aquatic Center Saturday afternoon.

Senior Elly Maleski (Cedar, Mich. / Traverse City West) won the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 26.91 and came in second on the 100 yard backstroke (58.56).   

Senior Kristina Novichenko (Seversk, Russia / Saint-Petersburg) won the 100 yard butterfly finishing in 58.16 and placed third in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:10.62. She finished second in the 1,000 yard freestyle in 10:35.04.  

Mallory Moore (West Bloomfield, Mich.) placed third in the 1,000 breaststroke (11:03.36) and senior Kei Cze Prentis (Shelby Twp., / Utica Eisenhower) touched in 25.19 to earn second place in the 50 yard freestyle.

Sophomore Emily Heitchue (Royal Oak, Mich.) came in second place in the 200 freestyle (1:56.76) and finished third in the 100 freestyle (54.12), while Manuela Ferreira (Livonia, Mich. / Stevenson) was second in the 50 breaststroke (31.15) and third in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.03).

Senior Gloria Martinez Perez (Merida, Spain / IES Carolina Coronado) won the 100 IM in a time of 1:01.20 and finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:57.03) and the 50 yard butterfly (27.02). Sophomore Emily Maraskine (Midland, Mich. / Dow) completed the 100 backstroke in 1:00.64 earning third place.

Junior Veronica Loock (Rochester Hills, Mich.) touched in (1:06.62) to earn third place in the 200 freestyle.

In diving, sophomore Elizabeth Rawlings (Armada, Mich. / Romeo) placed second on both the one-meter dive (253.42) and three-meter dive (283.73).

Junior Alex Geddis-McCririe (Brighton, Mich.) was third in the three-meter competition (246.83) and the one-meter dive (223.65).

Wayne State won the 200 freestyle relay with the team of Hannah Loesch (Pensacola, Fla. / Homeschooled), Maraskine, Makayla Myers (Hudsonville, Mich.), and Maleski in a time of 1:40.75. The Warriors also placed second in the 200 medley composed of Maleski, Ferreira, Martinez Perez and Heitchue completing in 1:47.45.

Wayne State returns to the pool at 5 p.m. on Friday Nov. 14th to host Calvin at the Matthaei Natatorium.
