DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's basketball squad (10-11 overall, 5-10 GLIAC) begins the second round of South Division play with the Feb. 4 contest at Tiffin (5-15 overall, 3-12 GLIAC). The Warriors are 2-2 in their last four matches with a loss coming in double overtime against the top team in the division (Ashland) and a close 80-87 setback at Findlay (2/1).  After Thursday's game, WSU will play three of its next four contests on the road before completing regular-season play at home vs. Walsh (Feb. 20) and Findlay (Feb. 25).

IN THE RANKS
Through games of Feb. 4, WSU was ranked in the top-75 nationally in five statistical categories.  The Warriors were 45th in field-goal percentage (43.2%), 49th in scoring offense (73.2), 56th in total steals (198), 66th in total rebounds (829) and 75th in steals per game (9.4). Individually, sophomore Shannon Wilson was 25th in assist/turnover ratio at 2.22, while senior Ashley Wilson was 39th in free-throw percentage (85.2%) and senior Brittany Streetman was 42nd in total steals (48) and 64th in steals per game (2.29).

In GLIAC games through Feb. 4, the Warriors were second in both field-goal attempts per game (64.0) and field-goals made per contest (27.7), third in both opponent field-goal percentage (39.5%) and opponent three-point field goal percentage (29.5), and fourth in points per game and rebounds per contest (39.5).

LAST WEEK'S RECAP
Wayne State topped Malone 71-63 on Jan. 28.  WSU led the game for 39:09 with the only lead change occurring in the first quarter.  Freshman India Hawkins led the Warriors with a career-high 15 points off the bench.  Streetman finished with 13 points, while Ashley Wilson totaled 12 points and Shannon Wilson chipped in with 11 points.  Wayne State upset Walsh 72-66 on Jan. 30 in North Canton, Ohio.  Shannon Wilson collected a career-high in points for the third time in four games with 29 points on 9-of-10 shooting, including five triples.  The Warriors suffered an 87-80 road loss at Findlay on Feb. 1. Streetman scored a career-high 40 points on 15-of-24 shooting, including seven three-pointers. Her 40 points is the second-most in program history.  Ashley Wilson notched her fifth double-double of the season and third in the last four games with 15 points and 10 rebounds against the Oilers.

CENTURY MARK IN GAMES PLAYED
On Jan. 3, Streetman and Kristen Long became just the eighth set of teammates in school history to reach the 100-game played plateau in the same season.  The last duo was Deanna Crumpton and Phaebre Colbert three years ago. The first set was WSU Hall of Famer Pearly Cunningham and Ann Roy in 1985-86.  The 1994-95 squad had three teammates in Wendy Winter, Missy Cochran and Jennifer Berrios to reach the century plateau.

WSU has played 112 games over the last four seasons compiling a 78-34 record.  Streetman and Long both played in every game as freshmen, their junior season and this year.  They each missed games as a sophomore -- Long (1/9 vs. Hillsdale, 1/11 vs. Findlay) and Streetman dressed but did not play (12/18 at Ashland).  The Jan. 3 game at Ferris State was the 100th game they both had played in together.

According to the NCAA Division II women's basketball active career leader stats, Streetman is tied-for-18th in games played and Long is tied-for-20th.  The WSU school record is 113 by Lisa Gentry (1981-85).  If Streetman doesn't miss any of the upcoming games, she will equal Gentry's record on Feb. 6 vs. Ohio Dominican at home.

Long became the 31st player in school history to play 2,000 career minutes in the Tiffin contest on Jan. 14, while Streetman was the 32nd Warrior to accomplish this feat also in the game against the Dragons.

Streetman is eighth in school history with 128 made three pointers, while Long is 20th with 183 assists.

ASHLEY WITH A FREE THROW HOT HAND
Ashley Wilson is ranked first in career free-throw percentage (87.5%/90-104). She broke the school record for consecutive free throws made (with 23 that she set two years ago) by making her first three attempts against Hillsdale on Jan. 7. She has connected on 19 of her last 20 attempts (95%) over the last four contests.

The senior is averaging 12.8 points a game along with 6.7 rebounds per contest.  Ashley leads the team and is ranked third in the conference with an 85.2 percent (69-of-81) free-throw percentage.

SCOUTING THE DRAGONS
Tiffin enters the Feb. 4 contest having lost four straight after its 72-64 victory over Malone (1/21).  Junior center Bre Nauman leads the Dragons in both scoring (14.6 points per game) and rebounds per contest (8.1). Senior guard Jordan Fraley averages 11.7 points per game and ranks fourth in the GLIAC with an 84.8 percent (28-33) free-throw percentage.  TU is ranked fourth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (36.5%) with freshman guard Alison Schirmer draining a team-high 43 triples.

SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Ohio Dominican has won three of its last four games as the Panthers enter Thursday's home game against Findlay.  ODU was on a six-game winning streak (Jan. 7 - Jan. 23) before a close heartbreak loss (66-62) to powerhouse Ashland on Jan. 28.  Senior forward Melissa Scherpenberg leads the Panthers in both scoring (13.9 points per game) and rebounds (10.7 boards per contest), which ranks second in the conference. Ohio Dominican is third in the GLIAC with 16.5 assists per game, while junior guard Lauren Bates leads the team with 62 helpers.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Wayne State has won the last five meetings against Tiffin to take a 10-7 lead in the all-time series.  The first four series meetings were prior to Tiffin joining the GLIAC with each school going 1-1 at home.  The Warriors have won the last three of four meetings at the Gillmor Center.

WSU holds an 8-1 advantage against Ohio Dominican in the all-time series which began in Dec. 2010.  The Warriors have scored more than 85 points (88-75, 86-76, 87-67, 106-111) in the last four contests versus ODU.  WSU suffered its only loss (106-111) to the Panthers in double-overtime on Jan. 16., which was the highest scoring game in GLIAC history.

STREETMAN HITS A MILESTONE
Playing in her 100th career game on Dec. 30, Streetman moved into eighth place on the WSU all-time list for three-pointers made with three triples against Cedarville.  Streetman passed Beth Wilson (1988-92) and trails Julie Filpus (1990-94) by five Ebony Vincent (2000-04) by six for sixth place.

This season, Streetman is averaging 13.6 points per game and is shooting 33.9 percent (37-for-109) from beyond the arc.  She has scored in double figures 15 times this year and tallied a career-high 40 points at Findlay.  The contest against the Oilers marked her fifth game this year of at least 20 points.  Streetman ranks 12th in school history (min. 30 made) with a 33.4 career three-point field goal percentage (128-383).

CONSISTENT LEADERSHIP
Head coach Carrie Lohr is in her fifth season and has an 90-48 (.652) record at WSU, along with a 256-154 (.624) career mark.  The Jan. 2 game at Grand Valley State marked her 400th contest as a collegiate head coach (272 at SC4 and 138 currently at WSU).  Lohr is the second coach to lead the Warriors to the NCAA Tournament, but the first coach to have its squad earn an NCAA Tournament bid three straight seasons, including an appearance in the Midwest Regional Championship game in both 2013 and 2014.
