Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Findlay in GLIAC Meet

DETROIT — The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team defeated Findlay, 161-78, in a GLIAC battle Friday evening at the Matthaei Natatorium.  Prior to the meet, the WSU Class of 2017 was recognized.
 
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Sophomore Lezlie Bueno Estrada (Montes Urales, Mexico) won the 50 free with a time of 24.51 and was also victorious in the 100 free logging a time of 53.97.
 
Newcomer Kate Svisco (Shelby Twp., Mich./Eisenhower) took first in the 400 IM registering a mark of 4:39.55.
 
Senior Elizabeth Rawlings (Armada, Mich./Romeo) won the one-meter diving event with a score of 289.85, and posted a 312.95 to win the three-meter as well.
 
Freshman Mia Teifer (Trenton, Mich./Monroe Saint Mary Catholic Central) met the NCAA pre-qualification standard for diving after posting a score of 282.00 and finishing second in the one-meter, as well as taking third place in the three meter and logging a score of 240.20.
 
Junior Makayla Myers (Hudsonville, Mich.), junior Abi Johns (Holland, Mich.) and sophomore Delayni Kornak-Kotarba (Comstock Park, Mich./ Rockford) swept the 100 fly notching times of 1:00.22, 1:00.63 and 1:00.90, respectively.
 
Senior Brenna Gabrielson (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) earned a first-place finish in the 100 back recording a time of 58.56.
 
WSU recorded its second sweep of the night in the 500 free when sophomore Ellie Dean (Midland, Mich./Dow), freshman Theresa Riviera (Rochester Hills, Mich./Adams) and junior Meghan Lamb (East China, Mich./St. Clair) earned first second and third with times of 5:16.31, 5:24.61 and 5:29.79.
 
Senior Emily Heitchue (Royal Oak, Mich.) powered the Warriors to victory in the 100 breast posting a time of 1:06.27.
 
RELAY RESULTS
 
The foursome of Gabrielson, senior Manuela Ferreira (Ibague, Colombia), Johns and sophomore Emma Weber (Kalamazo, Mich./Portage Central) led the way for the Green and Gold in the 200 medley relay registering a time of 1:48.69, while the team of senior Emily Maraskine (Midland, Mich./Dow), Heitchue, Kornak-Kotarba and Myers finished second in 1:49.61.

The Warriors return to action on Jan. 20 for a GLIAC dual meet against Saginaw Valley State at 4 p.m. in University Center, Mich.
