DETROIT – The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team completed the regular season portion of its schedule Saturday, falling to visitor Eastern Michigan 181-111 in the Senior Day meet.
RELAYS
In the 200 medley relay, sophomore
Ashlen Michalski (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower), freshman
Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia), freshman
Haley Groteler (West Ottawa, Mich.) and junior
Lezlie Bueno Estrada (Chihuahua, Mexico) were runners-up with a time of 1:47.97.
Groteler, Bueno Estrada, sophomore
Aliza Durack (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and senior
Makayla Myers (Hudsonville, Mich.) won the event in 1:38.78.
INDIVIDUAL WINNERS
Groteler won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:08.95, and also took the 100 butterfly in 57.65.
Freshman
Amanda Hurchalla (Mount Clemens, Mich. / Fraser) earned a win in one-meter diving (264.44).
Sophomore Katie Svisco (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) was first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.66.
TOP PERFORMERS
Koh was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.65), the 200 breaststroke (2:26.24) and the 200 IM (2:12.86).
Right behind Koh in the 200 breaststroke was Svisco (2:29.81).
Freshman
Emma Von Holtz (West Ottawa, Mich.) scored a 260.40 in one-meter diving, followed sophomore
Mia Teifer (Trenton, Mich. / Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central) with a 257.18, finishing second and third behind Hurchalla in one-meter diving.
Sophomore
Emily Marginean (Tecumseh, Ont. / Riverside S.S.) was third in the 200 backstroke (2:11.01).
Junior
Tai Furnari (Pleasant Ridge, Mich / Ferndale) was third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.83.
UP NEXT
The Warriors will resume action on Wed., Feb. 14, traveling to Jenison, Mich. for the start of the GLIAC Championships. That event will run through Sat., Jan. 17.
