Women's Swim and Dive Falls To Golden Grizzlies, 201-97

Sophomore Amanda Hurchalla swept the diving events with a one-meter qualifying performance.

Senior co-captain Lezlie Bueno Estrada earned an individual and relay win for the Warriors.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad traveled to Oakland University on Friday and lost its meet against the Golden Grizzlies, 201-97.

QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE

Sophomore Amanda Hurchalla (Mount Clemens, Mich. / Fraser) finished first in the one meter dive (255.45). Her performance met the NCAA qualifying standard of 255.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Senior Lezlie Bueno Estrada (Chihuahua, Mexico) won the 100 free with a time of 53.28. She came in second in the 50 free (24.43).

Hurchalla also took the number one spot in the three-meter diving event (253.72).

Junior Ashlen Michalski (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) placed second in both the 50 back (27.53) and the 100 back (59.42).

Sophomore Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) finished in second place in the 50 breast (30.68).

Sophomore Haley Groteler (West Ottawa, Mich.) took the number two spot in the 100 fly (58.35).

RELAY RESULTS

WSU claimed first in the 200 free relay (1:38.56). The winning quartet consisted of Bueno Estrada, Groteler, and juniors Aliza Durack (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and Kate Svisco (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower).

"I am really proud of the women's team. They had a great week of training and the majority improved from last week. Amanda Hurchalla really stood out by making the NCAA Qualifying Meet in a really competitive field."

On Saturday, Nov. 10, the Warriors will host Ashland in their second home meet of the season.
