Women's Swim and Dive Suffers Loss at Eastern Michigan

WSU claimed first in the 400 free relay against the DI university.

Sophomore Jia Yi Koh assisted Wayne State to a victory in the 400 free relay.

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad fell 174-111 at Division I Eastern Michigan University on Saturday.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Freshman Marjorie Myers (Pittsburgh, Penn. / Franklin Regional) finished the 1,000 free in second place (10:49.15), as well as the 500 free (5:20.34).

Sophomore Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) claimed second place in the 100 breast (1:08.87) and the 100 free (53.96).

Sophomore Amanda Hurchalla (Mount Clemens, Mich. / Fraser) earned second-place finishes in the three-meter dive (274.58 points) and the one-meter dive (259.43 points).

Senior Emily Marginean (Tecumseh, Ont.) placed second in the 200 back (2:11.40) and the 200 IM (2:14.33).

Junior Kate Svisco (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) finished second in the 200 breast (2:34.56).

Sophomore Haley Groteler (West Ottawa, Mich.) claimed second place in the 100 fly (58.97).

RELAY RESULTS

WSU notched a victory in the 400 free relay (3:36.20). The winning quartet included senior Lezlie Bueno Estrada (Chihuahua, Mexico), Groteler, Koh, and Svisco.

"Today was a great challenge to race against one of the top teams in the MAC. We overall had some strong performances and season dual meet bests and, moving forward, we are focused in on using these great opportunities to prepare us for the GLIAC Championships."

UP NEXT

The Warriors will host Findlay on Friday, Jan. 18, at 5 p.m. to face the Oilers at the Matthaei Natatorium.
