ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving squad topped Ashland, 595-545, on Friday evening in Ohio.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
Sophomore
Julia Brunner (Traverse City, Mich. / St. Francis) notched victories in the 200 free (1:57.72) and in the 100 free (53.65).
Senior
Mia Teifer (Trenton, Mich. / Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central) swept the diving competition with first-place finishes on the one-meter board (237.30 points) and on the three-meter board (248.55 points).
Senior
Aliza Durack (West Bloomfield, Mich.) claimed the top spot in the 50 free (25.34), followed by redshirt junior
Allison Lennig (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) in second place (26.35).
Senior
Kate Svisco (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) and sophomore
Ashleigh Allen (Clarkston, Mich.) finished back-to-back in the 400 IM. Svisco earned a first-place finish (4:51.34), with Allen in second place (4:54.49).
Junior
Haley Groteler (West Ottawa, Mich.) notched a victory in the 100 fly (59.99), with freshman
Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) as the runner-up (1:02.19).
Senior
Ashlen Michalski (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) finished first in the 100 back (58.18), followed by freshman
Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison) in second (59.56).
Freshman
Jordan Fox (Melbourne, Australia) earned a first-place finish in the 500 free (5:13.65).
Junior
Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) claimed the top spot in the 100 breast (1:06.05).
Junior
Sophie Montesanti (Howell, Mich.) finished second in the 1650 free with a time of 18:23.33.
RELAY RESULTS
WSU notched a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:50.52). The winning quartet consisted of Michalski as the lead off, Koh, Groteler, and Durack as the anchor.
The Green and Gold also earned a first-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:38.62). The group included Tarlev, Brunner, Groteler, and Durack.
