DETROIT -- Four former WSU swimmers are busy this summer participating in national and international meets:
Manuela Ferreira (2013-17) was a six-time All-American in the pool and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American;
Lezlie Bueno Estrada (2015-19) was a 21-time All-American and a three-time GLIAC All-Academic honoree;
Dima Drobnych (2015-19) was a 19-time All-American and a three-time GLIAC All-Academic recipient; and
Emily Marginean (2015-19), was a three-time All-American who broke the GLIAC meet record for the 400 IM this past February.
Ferreira competed last month at the Colombian Summer National Championships in Barranquilla. She won the 50 breast (32.57) and placed third in the 100 breast (1:14.25).
Bueno Estrada and Drobnych will be representing Mexico and Ukraine, respectively at the World University games in early July in Napoli, Italy.
Drobnych is slated to swim the 100 back on July 4 (prelims and semifinals) with the final scheduled for July 5th. He will also swim the 50 back on July 6th (prelims and semifinals) with the final taking place on July 7th. Bueno Estrada will swim the 100 free on July 5th (prelims and semifinals) with the final on July 6th. Her other event, the 50 free, will have the prelims and semifinals on July 9th, with the final taking place on July 10th.
Marginean will be participating in the Canadian National Swim Championships on August 8-11 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is scheduled to swim the 400 IM on August 9th and both the 200 IM and 400 free on August 10th.
