DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team earned a 166-118 win over Northern Michigan University on Sunday morning at the Matthaei Natatorium on Senior Day.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
Freshman Juliana Witt (Macomb Township, Mich. / Dakota) placed second in the 1000 freestyle (11:05.54). Finishing in third was sophomore Hannah Cooper (Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon) with a time of 11:11.39.
Freshman Isidora Sekaric (Windsor, Ont.) claimed first in the 200 free (1:55.33) and placed second in the 100 free (53.83), while junior Leticia Camilo Lemos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished third (2:00.51)
Sophomore Maddy Chorley (Burton, Mich. / Davison) took first in both the 50 back (26.33) and 100 back (57.16).
Senior Jia Yi Koh (Subang Jaya, Malaysia) claimed first in both the 50 breast (29.65) and 100 breast (1:04.98).
Sophomore Marina Tarlev (Athens, Greece) placed first in both the 50 free (24.60) and 100 free (53.77). Graduate student Allison Lennig (Canton, Mich.) placed third in the 50 free (25.70)
Senior Haley Groteler (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) won both of the butterfly events - 50 fly (26.47) and 100 fly (58.13).
Sophomore Abby Warner (Shelby Twp., Mich. / Eisenhower) placed third in the 100 fly (1:00.21)
Senior Amanda Hurchalla (Mount Clemens, Mich. / Fraser) had the highest score in the one-meter diving with an NCAA B-mark of 286.75. Freshman Mikaela Senkus (Macomb, Mich.) placed second and also had a NCAA B-standard score of 262.05.
Senkus earned a first-place finish in the three-meter diving competition (250.80), while Hurchalla place second with a score of 226.12.
Cooper placed second in the 400 IM (4:46.77) with junior Ashleigh Allen (Clarkston, Mich.) coming in third (4:50.13).
RELAY RESULTS
WSU notched a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:46.00). The team consisted of Chorley, Koh, Groteler, and Tarlev.
The 400 free relay group of Koh, Groteler, Tarlev and Sekaric broke the pool record finishing in a time of 3:28.92. Koh swam a 51.85 leading off the event, which was within a second of the pool record. The previous pool record of 3:29.41 was set by Ashland in 2010.
